Yung-Kuang Island Introduction
"Yun Guang Island" was inspired by the "King's Welcome Peace Ceremony" that takes place every three years at Donggang's Donglong Temple. It begins with the culture of people "praying for blessings for their homeland," incorporating local characteristics and sustainable intentions, extending into a virtual childhood story and characters. Through public art, the story’s intentions are presented, conveying hopes and blessings for a future of "co-prosperity" between people and the environment. "Cloud" represents reverence and blessings, "light" signifies hope and the future, while "island" symbolizes homeland and self. In the story script and design direction, "Yun Guang Island" is set to feature four carriers similar to "cloud islands," each with its own "island master." These themes and characters are inspired by the zodiac animals associated with the "King's Welcome Ceremony" major years—"Ox, Dragon, Sheep, Dog"—and incorporate symbolic elements from Donggang's landscapes, life scenes, and agricultural and fishery industries. The concepts are simplified and anthropomorphized in a straightforward manner, leading the narrative to introduce Donggang and invite visits while also hinting at the local community's deep engagement in sustainable tourism, marine protection, sustainable fishing, and friendly agriculture. "The Omnipotent Secretary of the Lord of Longevity – Star Person, hasn’t had a day off for over three hundred years. On a rare day off, he decides to travel to Yun Guang Island to find friends, sparking a small adventure." In the story, the long-held wishes people have been making to the starry sky gradually coalesce into the four "Yun Guang Islands." The Lord of Longevity's omnipotent secretary, "Star Person," takes the lead, guiding everyone to the four islands to meet their island masters and explore locally. The themes and island masters of the four Yun Guang Islands include: "Beautiful Sister Island - Golden & Silver Three Sisters," advocating for local in-depth tourism; "Guardian Island - Ocean Woof Woof Port," continuing local marine protection actions; "Day-Night Reversed Fishing Boat," contemplating sustainable fisheries; and "Vitality Three Treasure Trees," representing the spirit of agriculture in Donggang. In terms of thematic design, it incorporates elements such as the tropical fish topographic outline of Donggang seen from the sky, the old name of Xiaoliuqiu "Burial Mountain Isle," "wax apple" from Linbian and its old name "Linzi Bian," Beidawu Mountain, the old-style "ice port" by the harbor, sakura shrimp, distant fishing boats, and symbols like red beans and cantaloupe leaves, creatively transforming and interpreting these aspects.
