Cat Rock Coastal Recreation Area Introduction
Mao Gong Rock Coastal Recreation Area is located to the north of Little Kinmen Island, named after the unique red rock known as "Mao Gong Rock." This area is one of the few places in Taiwan where Mao Gong Rock can be found. Upon arriving at Mao Gong Rock Beach, the first sight is the circular arrangement of anti-landing stake tracks. Then, looking to the right along the coast, one can see numerous Mao Gong Rocks scattered about—huge red stones, each shaped differently due to coastal erosion. In Hokkien, an ugly man with a pockmarked face is referred to as "Mao Gong," which is why these pitted rocks are named "Mao Gong Rock!"
