Cat Mountain Stone Coastal Rest Area Introduction
The Cat Rock Coastal Recreational Area is located to the north of Little Kinmen Island. It is named after the unique red stones known as "Cat Rocks," which are one of the few areas in Taiwan that produce them. Upon arriving at Cat Rock Beach, the first sight is the circular arrangement of landing stake track fortifications. Looking toward the right side of the coast, clusters of Cat Rocks are scattered around, each large red stone having a unique shape due to erosion from the sea. In Hokkien, a man with a pockmarked and uneven face is described as "Cat," which is why these uneven stones are named "Cat Rocks."
