Ling Shui Lake Introduction
Ling Shui Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Lieyu, created through manual excavation. The lake's shores are rich in aquatic vegetation, making it a habitat for various bird species such as geese, white-browed crakes, and cormorants, especially migratory birds in winter. It is the most ecologically rich wetland in Little Kinmen. During the summer, many birds can often be seen perched around the lush greenery, with willow trees swaying against the backdrop of the vast lake, providing a refreshing view. In winter, Ling Shui Lake becomes a key spot for birdwatching, particularly from November to January, when migratory birds pass through Kinmen. Notable species include the Anatidae family, such as the red-necked duck, the red-breasted duck, and the common merganser, along with cormorants and white-browed crakes, with cormorants being particularly abundant, often seen filling the casuarinas by the lake. Over 60 species of birds attract many birdwatching enthusiasts to this location. If you're looking forward to a deep migratory bird adventure, Ling Shui Lake is definitely a great choice for winter travel in Kinmen!
