Ling Shui Lake Introduction
Ling Shui Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Lieyu. It was excavated by human hands, and the lakeshore nurtures rich aquatic vegetation, making it a habitat for various bird species, such as geese, white-browed waterhen, and cormorants, especially winter migratory birds. It is the most ecologically rich wetland in Little Kinmen. In summer, many birds can often be seen perching amidst the greenery, with willows swaying gently, complemented by the expansive lake scenery, creating a refreshing atmosphere. In winter, Ling Shui Lake becomes an important site for bird watching, with peak migratory seasons occurring from November to January the following year. Species such as geese, including the red-necked duck, the black-headed duck, the rufous duck, as well as cormorants and white-browed waterhens, can be spotted here, with cormorants being particularly abundant, often seen perched on the casuarina trees by the lake. Over 60 species of birds often attract many birdwatchers to visit. If you are looking forward to an in-depth migratory bird journey, Ling Shui Lake is definitely a great choice for winter travel in Kinmen!
