Ling Shui Lake Introduction
Ling Shui Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Lieyu, created through manual excavation. The lakeside is home to rich aquatic plant resources, making it a habitat for numerous bird species, including migratory birds such as geese, white-browed crakes, and cormorants. It is the most ecologically abundant wetland in Little Kinmen. During summer, many birds can often be seen resting amidst lush greenery and swaying willows, complemented by the vast lake scenery that brings a sense of peace and relaxation. In winter, Ling Shui Lake becomes an important site for birdwatching, especially from November to January, which is the peak migration season for birds passing through Kinmen, such as the Anatidae family including the red-necked duck, red-headed duck, and spot-billed duck, as well as cormorants and white-browed crakes. Notably, the number of cormorants is quite high, and it is common to see the lakeside filled with them perched on the Casuarina trees. With over 60 species of birds, it often attracts many birdwatchers. If you're looking forward to an in-depth migratory bird journey, Ling Shui Lake is definitely a great choice for winter travel in Kinmen!
