Martyr's Shrine Introduction
There are many temples in Lieyu, and the Lieyu Muzu Temple is one of the most popular! The Lieyu Muzu Temple is located in the southwestern part of Lieyu, in Qingqi Village, and is also known as the Wang Xian Gu Temple. The temple's original name was "Zhenjie Shrine," dedicated to Wang Xian Gu, whose birth name was Wang Yulan. She was from Xiamen, and it is said that one day, while picking shellfish at the beach at noon, she was tragically harassed, drowned, and died in the sea. The next day, her body washed ashore at the coast of Guishan in Lieyu, where it was discovered and buried by a soldier from the local coastal defense unit named Liu. Later, Wang Yulan appeared in a dream to explain her plight, moving the stationed troops and local villagers. Consequently, in 1956, funds were raised to build a temple for her by the 81st Army Division stationed in Lieyu, which became a source of solace for the troops and local residents. The Lieyu Muzu Temple has a thriving worship culture and responds to prayers, and after renovations and expansions, it has become a famous tourist attraction in Lieyu, drawing many people to pay their respects and make wishes. If your wishes come true, remember to return to show your gratitude!
