Shakikou Fort Introduction
Shaxi Fortress is located on the cape outside Qingshui Village and is mainly composed of a mixture of granitic gneiss and granite. From the viewpoint of Nanshan Head, it resembles a bird's beak, hence it is also known as "Fengzui" (Phoenix Beak). The location of Shaxi Fortress is unique, offering views of Dadan, Erdan, Pinglang Islet, and Xiamen. It bears significant military responsibility, akin to various military posts in Kinmen. The camp is equipped with bunkers, ammunition depots, and tunnels. After the troop reduction, the camp has been revitalized and renovated. Here, at the westernmost point of Taiwan, a viewing pavilion has been established. Following the coastal trail guided by the sea breeze towards the pavilion, one seems to be embraced by the unobstructed blue sea at the invisible end, making it one of the must-see scenic spots in Kinmen for photography enthusiasts!
