Dadan Island Introduction

Dadan Island is part of Lieyu Township in Kinmen County. After arriving at Xiaojinmen, a boat ride is required to access the island, which is also known as "a secret place within a secret battlefield." Due to its proximity of only 4,400 meters to Xiamen, it was regarded as the front line of the front line during the military standoff between the two sides. Dadan Island is small and flat, and after years of renovation, it officially unveiled itself to tourists in 2019, allowing visitors to explore the past of this secret island. At Dadan Pier, large slogans greet you, such as "Dadan carries great burdens, though the island is lonely, the people are not" and "Loyalty spans the sun and moon; courage shakes the rivers and mountains." Shengming Road, about 500 meters long, features opposing mud lion sculptures, totaling 212 pairs or 636 lions (male, female, and cubs), while the entire island has a total of 491 pairs or 1,473 cement lion sculptures. Beian Temple is located beside the Divine Chicken Tomb and is dedicated to the Supreme Emperor Xuantian, a statue that drifted to the island and was collected by soldiers who then built the temple for it. The temple walls are engraved with the saying "A mountain is not high if there is a deity present; a temple is not large if the heart is sincere," serving as a spiritual refuge for the stationed soldiers. The most famous attraction on Dadan Island is the Psychological Warfare Wall, built in 1986, which stands 3.2 meters high and 20 meters long and features military slogans. It is a popular spot for tourists from mainland China visiting Xiamen. Nearby, an observation platform allows visitors to see tourists on the opposite shore through telescopes. The National Flag Platform on Beishan is actually a siren fortress of the Dadan Broadcasting Station and is the best vantage point to view Xiamen. The view stretches from the two islands to the five islands and even to Zhangzhou. The Dadan Broadcasting Station was established by the Great Wall troops in the 1950s and expanded in 1969, with sound waves capable of reaching up to 20,000 meters. Continuing up the path leads to more of the broadcasting horns, with the highest point being the Beishan National Flag Platform, which offers excellent views. The Sacred Spring on Dadan Island is said to be the lifeblood of the soldiers, believed to have gushed forth when Zheng Chenggong struck his sword into the ground, giving it the name Sacred Spring. There are five taboos regarding the spring: slaughtering, showering, washing hair, drawing water from the railing, and using the spring water for laundry or watering vegetables. There are also rumors that women approaching the Sacred Spring may experience a decline in luck, leading guides to offer warnings about this, although the truth of these claims remains uncertain. The Sacred Spring Tea House was built in 1991 using local Casuarina wood as construction material. It serves as an important leisure spot on the island and is also a place to entertain distinguished guests visiting the island. The indoor walls display writings and photos left by esteemed visitors over the years. For ticket information, boarding locations, and guided services, please contact qualified vendors for inquiries.
