In the 1970s, Shimen Reservoir became a popular tourist destination, and at the age of 48, Chen Huiqing boldly entered the live fish industry. The name "Shiyuan" comes from the Shiyuan dormitory of the Academia Sinica, which Chen found to have beautiful surroundings when he established the restaurant.
