Shimen Reservoir Introduction
Shimen Reservoir was once the largest reservoir in the Far East, and it is currently one of the important reservoirs in northern Taiwan. Throughout the year, the scenic views of the lake and mountains are breathtaking. Shimen Reservoir connects to more than a dozen tourist attractions, with parks filled with lush greenery, bike paths, and boating options available, providing diverse recreational activities for visitors. Popular sightseeing spots within the park include the dam, spillway, lakeside pier, Xizhou Park, Maple Forest Park, and Nanyuan Ecological Park. The reservoir is also an excellent place for flower viewing. In winter, the maple leaves turn a golden color, and the plum blossoms create a sea of white flowers, captivating the eyes. When spring arrives, peach blossoms, cherry blossoms, and azaleas compete in beauty. During the rainy season, the dam's spillway creates a spectacular scene that attracts many tourists. Shimen Reservoir also features Shimen Dam Pier and Amuping Pier, where visitors can take a boat tour around the lake and enjoy the magnificent views of the reservoir. Shimen live fish is the most famous local delicacy, with each restaurant offering different signature dishes, totaling nearly 200 ways to enjoy it.
