Located in the Old Street of Neihuay, "Legend of the Mountain Fresh Milk Mochi" was established in April 2000. Using pure fresh milk to create innovative Hakka delicacies—fresh milk mochi and fresh milk cow's milk mochi—these melt-in-your-mouth treats can be enjoyed by everyone from infants to the elderly, making them an essential souvenir for visitors to Neihuay. The famous "wet" mochi – cow's milk mochi! This cow's milk mochi is a unique afternoon snack in Hakka villages. Historically, the Hakka community primarily lived near the foothills, and farmers would go up the mountain to farm, while Hakka women made mochi from glutinous rice at home, as glutinous rice is the most filling. The reason for using ginger syrup with brown sugar is for health benefits: brown sugar helps cool down to prevent farmers from overheating while working in the mountains, and ginger syrup warms the body to protect against the cold, especially since the mountainous area is prone to northwest rain, endangering farmers. The term "cow's milk" refers to the mochi placed in ginger syrup because its shape resembles the leisurely appearance of water buffalo in a pond during the early farming off-season, hence the name.
