Hualien Harbor Warehouse No. 1 Art Museum / Venus Gallery Introduction
Venus Gallery was established in 1980 and is the oldest professional art gallery in Eastern Taiwan. Over the years, it has actively engaged in public welfare activities related to local arts and culture, environmental protection, and community building. In August 2005, it moved into Warehouse 1-1 within a recreational area and has collaborated with government agencies and private enterprises to continuously plan events such as the 2005 “Welding Together in Hualien—Steel Art Creation Camp,” the “Current Sculpting Mini Stone Carving Camp at Hualien Port,” the 2007 “Eclectic Collage Art,” and the 2008 “Driftwood Life Aesthetics Workshop,” encouraging public participation in community art performances with enthusiastic responses. In 2008, it also received funding from the National Cultural and Arts Foundation, the Taiwan Craft Research Institute, and the Taitung Living Aesthetics Museum to implement the “The Beauty of Heaven and Earth—Fine Arts 1.2.3” project, aimed at promoting the development and marketing of Hualien's cultural and creative products. Currently, Warehouse 1-1 is gradually enhancing its hardware and software facilities, aiming to integrate gallery space, a small theater, a local cultural museum, a community arts center, and a café into a multi-functional operation, transforming idle space into a diverse cultural performance venue.
