Guo Zihou Music Hall Introduction
Known as the "Father of Hualien Music," Teacher Kuo Tzu-Chiu enriches the memories of many people in Hualien through music. To preserve important history for future generations, this carefully renovated Japanese wooden building has transformed into a music cultural museum that showcases precious manuscripts, musical instruments, and visual materials. Accompanied by the fragrant aroma of cypress wood, visitors can not only feel the influence of cultural arts but also appreciate the resilient life force of the old house. The Kuo Tzu-Chiu Music Cultural Museum consists of two buildings. The first building primarily exhibits Teacher Kuo's creative manuscripts, tools for instrument restoration, handwritten letters, and other valuable historical materials. It also features a piano that Teacher Kuo once used, as well as a display wall telling his life story, with old photographs providing visitors a glimpse into his early teaching methods and lifestyle. The second building mainly serves as a performance space for cultural events and community interactions, allowing visitors to experience the essence of local music culture while adding a touch of classical elegance.
