Guo's Spring Roll Introduction

Located near the Chenghuang Temple, there is a renowned establishment called "Guo Spring Roll Shop." Originally situated beside a meatball stall at the Chenghuang Temple in Hsinchu, Guo Spring Roll Shop has been a century-old shop in the vicinity of the temple, founded by the first generation, Mr. Zhuang Qishi, fifteen years before the Republic of China era. It is now run by the fifth generation. Modern diners prefer vegetable-based fillings for spring rolls and are no longer keen on the greasy flavors of heavy meats. In response, the owner has made some adjustments to the ingredients. The fillings include dried tofu, herbs, egg crepe, pork floss, ground peanuts, pickled radish, leeks, cabbage, and bean sprouts. The spring roll skin is fragrant and chewy, without clumps of excess flour. The egg crepe is made from a mixture of flour and eggs, while the braised vegetables are stir-fried cabbage mixed with carrots, enhancing the natural sweetness of the vegetables in the spring roll. They continue to maintain their original preparation methods and characteristics, sincerely striving to make delicious spring rolls, which have quickly gained popularity among locals and fast-food lovers, leading to their fame far and wide.
