A-Cheng's Restaurant Introduction
A-Cheng Restaurant, owned by Ye Rong-jun, has a history of over seventy years in Hsinchu. At that time, many people gathered at the temple entrance, resembling those selling plasters and the worshippers. Thus, an old pushcart was set up to sell rice noodles at the temple. The restaurant was passed down from the owner's great-grandfather to his grandfather, who was known as A-Cheng. Hence, the restaurant named after the founding ancestor of the Cheng Huang Temple is called A-Cheng. The restaurant is well-known not only for its fried rice noodles but also for its assorted soup and meatball soup, which have been sold since the great-grandfather's time, contributing to its reputation. The rice noodles are handmade and dried using the winds of Hsinchu, giving them a particularly chewy texture. Coupled with the owner's unique braising sauce that includes pork belly and garlic paste, many food lovers have praised it, including former President Chiang Kai-shek, President Lee Teng-hui, Governor Song Chao-yu, and Wu Po-hsiung, who have all visited here.
