Gugu Soup Introduction
When it comes to the origin of Hsinchu's "Gou Gou Geng," it is none other than Lin Laobo. More than sixty years ago, Lin Laobo's father was a vendor selling sweet soups and candies. When it came to Lin Laobo, he had a brilliant idea to sell soup instead. This is why Lin Laobo's soup has become the oldest and most famous in Hsinchu's history. After decades in business, he still hasn't revealed the name of his shop, yet customers continue to flock there. The soup features ingredients that the owner has meticulously researched and improved over the years, including fish soup, cilantro, shredded bamboo shoots, and delicious, chewy fish nuggets. There are two types of fish soup, one red and one white; the colors differ and so do the flavors, making it a local delicacy you must come and taste for yourself.
