Oyster Vermicelli Introduction

When it comes to the origin of Hsinchu's Gōng Gēng, it has to be Lin Lao-ber. More than sixty years ago, Lin Lao-ber's father was a vendor selling sweet soups and candies. When it passed to Lin Lao-ber, he creatively decided to start selling soup instead. This is why Lin Lao-ber's soup has become the oldest and most famous in Hsinchu's history. After decades in business, he still has not revealed the shop's name, yet customers continue to flock in. The soup includes ingredients that the owner has researched and improved over the years, such as fish soup, cilantro, shredded bamboo shoots, and chewy fish cakes. There are two types of fish cakes, one red and one white, each with different flavors, making it a local delicacy worth tasting in person.
