Miru Workshop Introduction
Teacher Shen Meilu said: "My workshop was originally going to be named after my father's name 'Basang', partly because my father passed away a long time ago, and partly because during my learning process in weaving, there were several times when I wanted to give up. However, it felt like my father was silently encouraging me to not give up, which allowed me to persist until today. To commemorate my father, I applied to the New Taipei City Government, but when I heard that the name 'Basang' was already registered, I felt very disappointed. Later, I listened to others' advice and decided to use the phonetic sound of my name 'Meilu'. Since my workshop faces the Nanshi River, which in Chinese is often said to mean 'finding success when encountering water', I added the character for 'water' and came up with the name 'Meilu' (渼潞)."
