Meilu Workshop Introduction
Teacher Shen Meilu said: "My workshop was originally going to be named after my father, 'Basang,' partly because he passed away when I was very young, and partly because there were several times during my learning process of weaving when I wanted to give up. However, it felt like my father was silently encouraging me not to give up, which allowed me to persevere until today. To honor my father, I applied to the New Taipei City Government at that time, and when I heard that the name 'Basang' had already been registered, I felt very disappointed. Later, I heard someone suggest using the phonetic sound of my name 'Meilu,' and since my workshop faces the Nanshih River, which Chinese people often say: 'When it meets water, it flourishes,' I added the 'water' component and came up with the name 'Meilu' (渼潞) to use."
