Meilu Workshop Introduction
Teacher Shen Mei-lu said: My workshop was originally going to be named after my father "Ba-Sang," partly because my father passed away long ago, and partly because there were several times during my learning of weaving that I wanted to give up, but it felt as if my father was quietly encouraging me not to give up, which allowed me to persist until today. To commemorate my father, I applied to the New Taipei City Government, but when I heard that the name "Ba-Sang" had already been registered, I felt very disappointed. Later, I heard someone suggest using the pronunciation of my name "Mei-lu." Additionally, since my workshop faces Nanshi River, and Chinese people often say: "Water brings prosperity," I incorporated the character "water" and came up with the name "Mei-Lu."
