Dongshi Old Railway Station and Hakka Cultural Park Introduction
The Dongshi Hakka Cultural Park's Museum of Hakka Culture is transformed from the old Dongshi Railway Station. The original facilities, such as the train station platform and the waiting room's rain shelter, were removed due to structural deterioration during the renovation. However, the long benches where passengers used to wait have been intentionally preserved in the exhibition room converted from the waiting area. Behind the museum is the Dongfeng Green Corridor cycling path, surrounded by lush greenery, providing a distant view of the beautiful mountain town, making it one of the new landmarks for tourism in Taichung. Museum Introduction: The Dongshi Hakka Museum displays Hakka cultural artifacts and hosts occasional exhibitions related to Hakka culture. The park is also planned to include thematic exhibits related to Hakka food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, and entertainment, showcasing the area's industries, language, and cultural features. The Dongshi Hakka Museum is located in what was once the Dongshi Railway Station and serves as the endpoint of the Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor. The museum features periodic thematic exhibitions introducing local specialties and cultural characteristics of the Dongshi area. Visitors passing through the area should not forget to stop by the museum to see what special exhibitions are on display today; it may bring unexpected rewards and a taste of nostalgia from childhood.
