Dongshi Old Railway Station and Hakka Cultural Park Introduction
The Dongshi Hakka Cultural Museum is housed in the former Dongshi Train Station, which has been renovated from the old train station structure. During the renovation, the old platform and the rain shelter at the entrance of the waiting room were removed due to their deteriorated condition. However, the long benches where passengers used to sit while waiting for trains have been deliberately preserved in the exhibition room converted from the waiting area. Behind the museum is the Dongfeng Green Corridor bicycle path, surrounded by lush greenery and offering a distant view of the beautiful mountain city, making it one of the new landmarks for tourism in Taichung County. Museum Introduction: The Dongshi Hakka Cultural Museum features Hakka cultural artifacts and hosts periodic exhibitions related to Hakka culture. The park is also planned to include themed exhibitions on Hakka-related aspects such as food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, and recreation, highlighting the region's industries, languages, and cultural characteristics. The museum, converted from the former Dongshi Train Station, also serves as the endpoint for the Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor. Inside, there are themed exhibitions held periodically that showcase local specialties and cultural characteristics of the Dongshi area. If you pass through this area, don't forget to stop by the museum to see what special exhibition is currently on display; you might have unexpected discoveries and revisit memories of childhood.
