Kinmen Bridge Introduction
Located in Dongshi District, the Kinmen Bridge originally had only a gentle stream flowing between its banks, requiring residents from both sides to wade across. To ensure the safety of women, children, and the elderly, the bridge was built in the 15th year of the Showa era (1940 AD). At that time, due to the outbreak of the Pacific War, all cement was requisitioned, so the local people could only use glutinous rice, lime, and brown sugar to create a binding material. This gave the bridge a flexible quality, allowing it to withstand the 921 earthquake without any damage. Its unique construction methods and design hold significant preservation value, especially for the safety of local residents.
