Chen Yun Baoquan Freeway Store is a century-old establishment that has redefined itself. The first generation, Mr. Chen Yun, sold pastries in Triangle Street of modern-day Fengyuan during the Japanese colonial period. In 1943, the second generation, Mr. Chen Jinquan, gained popularity for the handmade daifuku mochi he created in Japan, which was well-crafted and delicious. Mr. Chen Jinquan established the "Baoquan Confectionery" in Tokyo, marking the origin of Baoquan. In 1975, the Baoquan main store was set up on Zhongzheng Road in Fengyuan by the third generation, Mr. Chen Zengxiong, who combined traditional Taiwanese baking methods with Japanese techniques to innovate the traditional mooncake, successfully developing small mooncakes and egg yolk pastries, which quickly gained fame. The fourth generation, Mr. Chen Kunhong, continued to innovate by developing unique products such as "Lu Zhi Guo" and "Ri Yue Shao," reaching new heights in pastry-making skills. Over the years, it has received numerous gold medals in excellent food evaluations and awards for distinctive stores in Taichung. In 2013, the original name "Baoquan" was enhanced by adding the name of the first generation, Chen Yun, to become "Chen Yun Baoquan," symbolizing the commitment to heritage and cultural transmission. The fourth-generation heir, Chen Kunhong, studied pastry techniques in Japan and has become a master pastry chef, continuously adapting to the changing times.
