Chen Yun Baoquan Freedom Road Headquarters is a century-old establishment that has innovated since the era of Japanese rule. The first generation, Mr. Chen Yun, sold pastries on Sanjiao Street in today's Fengyuan urban area. In 1943, the second generation, Mr. Chen Jinqun, gained immense popularity for his handmade daifuku mochi, which was delicious and skillfully crafted. Mr. Chen Jinqun established Baoquan Seika Honten in Tokyo, marking the origin of Baoquan. In 1975, the Baoquan Main Store was established on Zhongzheng Road in Fengyuan's pastry street, operated by the third generation, Mr. Chen Zengxiong. He integrated traditional Taiwanese baking methods with Japanese styles, successfully developing new treats like mini mooncakes and salted egg yolk pastries, which quickly became popular. The fourth generation, Mr. Chen Kunhong, continued this tradition by developing exclusive products like Luzhiguo and Riyue Shao, further elevating the art of pastry making. Over the years, the establishment has received numerous gold medals in quality food evaluations and the Taichung Featured Store Award, among others. In 2013, the original Baoquan name was altered to Chen Yun Baoquan to honor the legacy of the first-generation founder and emphasize the importance of cultural and technical heritage passed down through generations. Mr. Chen Kunhong, who studied pastry techniques in Japan, has become a master pastry chef, continuously adapting to the changing times.
