To meet the needs of devotees and locals who practice vegetarianism visiting the Dajia Mazu Temple, Yu Chen Hsin replaced the traditional lard pastry with a recipe using natural butter, not only leading to the famous "butter pastry" known far and wide today but also earning Yu Chen Hsin the title of the hometown of butter pastries.
