New Minors Food Store Introduction
The first western-style bakery in Hsinchu City is located on the bustling Zhongzheng Road. It has been a staple in Hsinchu for over sixty years, and locals are undoubtedly familiar with it. Every Hsinchu resident has childhood memories of New Main's Food Store, where we would ask our parents to take us to choose breakfast or snacks for outings, eagerly sharing them with classmates the next day! New Main's originally started as the famous "Ai Le Meng Restaurant" in Hsinchu, where American military advisors were enamored by the western desserts. The owner later decided to switch to exclusively selling western pastries, becoming the first western-style bakery in Hsinchu during a time of resource scarcity. However, what has deeply ingrained itself in the hearts of the people of Hsinchu is not just the western pastries, but also the various braised dishes that were later introduced, especially the highly popular osmanthus saltwater duck, which has gradually become one of New Main's signature items. It's no surprise that it is referred to as a "braised dish store" that got sidetracked by bread. The bakery's best recommendation is the savory butter pineapple bun. Every time I buy it, I get several to enjoy as a late-night snack or afternoon tea, and regardless of the calories, I just feel immensely satisfied!
