Dona Mountain Manor Coffee Farm Introduction
Nestled among the mountains, overlooking the Zhuokou Creek, and surrounded by misty hills, is a place with great coffee! The Dongna (ku nga da vane) village is located in the deepest part of Maolin Township, south of the tributary Zhuoquan Creek which flows into Zhuokou Creek, about 3 kilometers south of the northern slope of Jingda Mountain (1,678 meters) at an elevation of approximately 550 meters. Surrounded by mountains and with fertile soil, it is the largest settlement of the Rukai people in the area. The Yushan Coffee House was established in 2007, using local materials—primarily slate for the main structure, complemented by log wood and Rukai crafts, creating a coffee house atmosphere distinct from urban settings in its expansive slate courtyard. The owners, Isamu and his wife, began their coffee journey over a decade ago and in the last five years have been processing coffee from old trees planted over twenty years ago in their family’s land, gaining considerable coffee knowledge from years of study, and becoming a point of inquiry for the people of Dongna village.
