Shitou Mountain Introduction
SheTou Mountain is located at the 12-kilometer mark of Highway 132 in Maolin District. It can be seen while heading towards Donali Road and is named for its resemblance to a hundred-step snake coiled around Zhuokou Creek. SheTou Mountain is a typical meandering landform and was originally a ring-shaped hill, opposite to LongTou Mountain. Baibu Snake Head Mountain is also regarded as a sacred mountain that protects the tribe and is one of the most famous attractions in the Maolin area. According to legend, a long time ago, there was a mother snake with two baby snakes searching for food here. When the mother snake heard the sound of rushing water, she thought a heavy rain from the mountains was coming, possibly bringing a flash flood. She immediately called her children to climb up the trees for safety and instructed them to close their eyes and chant a mantra, hoping her son and daughter would transform into an eagle and a purple butterfly, respectively, to escape the disaster. This adds a fascinating element to the story. If you wish to explore the beauty of SheTou Mountain, you can enjoy its full view from the SheTou Mountain Viewing Platform. A suggested stay time is about 15 minutes, allowing you to leisurely appreciate the unique meandering landscape of SheTou Mountain from the observation deck.
