Fu Tsai Handmade Bun Introduction
Li Tu-ge (born in 1935) started making handmade steamed buns and baozi in 1971 to support his family, pushing a cart to sell in nearby villages. Later, he established a fixed selling point at the entrance of the Fu'an Temple in Fukuharu Village. In 2003, due to age, his son Li Yong-chun (born in 1970) took over the business and opened a breakfast shop at his residence at No. 37, Fukuharu Village, only selling in the morning from 5 AM to 9 AM. In 2011, Li Yong-chun's wife, Peng Xiao-ling, along with his sister-in-law, extended their sales to Dongshi. They chose a location in front of the Dongshi Township Farmers' Association, where there was heavy foot and vehicle traffic, and set up a stall named "Fukuharu Handmade Steamed Buns" selling handmade steamed buns and baozi. Due to the authentic craftsmanship, their business thrived and became a well-known snack stall in Dongshi. "Fukuharu Handmade Steamed Buns" uses high-gluten flour made entirely by hand, without any machines. The filling for the baozi includes cabbage, pork, carrot, and sweet potato, with the sweet potato added to enhance the sweetness and flavor of the baozi.
