Yilan Distillery (Jiazi Lan Liquor Museum) Introduction
The Yilan Distillery was established in 1909. In its early years, Yilan was also known as Jiasilan, Kamalan, and Hualilan, which is why the distillery's wine museum, opened for tourism in 1998, is named Jiasilan. It is the oldest distillery in Taiwan, with its main product being Red Rice Wine. This wine has received a silver medal in international evaluations and is considered highly nutritious. The primary ingredient of Red Rice Wine is red yeast rice, which is why visitors can find various local delicacies and derivative products like red yeast sausages, red yeast rice cakes, red yeast wine vinegar, red yeast sauce, red rice wine with jujube, and red rice wine with longan ice pops, showcasing the local characteristics of Yilan. Housed in a renovated old material warehouse, the wine museum features mottled walls and a rich historical ambiance, along with a unique waterfall made of old wine jars. Here, visitors can not only smell the aroma of wine and taste delicious foods but also visit the wine museum, red yeast museum, wine bank, and Red Rice Art Gallery. If requested through a guided tour, visitors can also explore the wine cellars and storage facilities to understand the entire wine production process. After visiting the Yilan Distillery, you can also take a stroll to nearby attractions such as the Yilan Administration Memorial Hall and the Literature Museum to enjoy a fulfilling day rich in cultural experience.
