Yilan Distillery, Jiachuan Liqour Museum Introduction
Yilan Distillery was established in 1909, and in its early days, Yilan was also known as Jiazi Lan, Gamalan, and Gezi Lan, which is why the distillery's wine museum, opened for tourism in 1998, was named after Jiazi Lan. Yilan Distillery is currently the oldest distillery in Taiwan, with its main product being Red Rice Wine. Red Rice Wine has won a silver medal in international competitions and is a beverage with high nutritional value, primarily made from red yeast rice. Therefore, various delicious and derivative products such as red yeast sausages, red yeast rice cakes, red yeast vinegar, red rice paste, and Red Rice Wine black dates and lychee rice cake popsicles can be found throughout the museum, showcasing Yilan's local characteristics. The wine museum, converted from an old material warehouse, features weathered walls and a rich historical ambiance, along with a unique waterfall wall made from old wine jars. Here, visitors can not only smell the aroma of wine and taste delicious food but also visit the wine museum, red yeast museum, wine bank, and Red Rice Art Gallery. If you apply for a guided tour, you can also see the wine cellar and other winemaking and storage facilities to understand the entire wine production process. After visiting Yilan Distillery, you can also take a stroll to nearby attractions like the Yilan Administrative Memorial Hall and the Literature Museum, spending a fulfilling day filled with cultural vibes.
