Cihu Mausoleum Introduction
Cihu Memorial Sculpture Park is famous for being the final resting place of the late President Chiang Kai-shek of the Republic of China. Cihu is divided into Front Cihu and Back Cihu, with the enchanting water colors along the lake shore and weeping willows creating a beautiful scene reminiscent of southern China. Chiang named this place Cihu because it resembled his hometown in Fenghua, Zhejiang, and it was also a tribute to his feelings of longing for his mother. He commissioned the construction of a hall here, which features a mix of Fujian and Zhejiang architecture. After his passing in 1975, he was interred here. The two lakes in the park are connected by a stream, surrounded by beautiful scenery and green mountains, offering different natural vistas in every season. In addition to visiting the mausoleum, one must also witness the changing of the guard ceremony performed by the ceremonial guards rotated among the three armed forces, showcasing impressive rifle drills that attract both domestic and international tourists to stop, observe, and take photos.
