Ci Lake Mausoleum (Former Ci Lake) Introduction
Cihu Mausoleum is famous for being the final resting place of the former President of the Republic of China, Chiang Kai-shek. Cihu comprises the front and back lakes, with charming water colors along the shores and willows swaying beautifully, resembling the picturesque scenery of Jiangnan. Chiang named this place Cihu because it resembles his hometown in Fenghua, Zhejiang, and reflects his longing for his mother. He also built a villa here, designed in a mixture of Fujian and Zhejiang architectural styles. He passed away in 1975 and was interred here. The park's front and back lakes are connected by streams, creating a beautiful environment surrounded by green mountains, offering different natural sights in each season. In addition to paying respects at the mausoleum, visitors should not miss the changing of the honor guard ceremony performed by the military's honor guard, which rotates among the three armed forces and features impressive rifle drills every hour, attracting both domestic and international tourists to stop, observe, and take photographs.
