Daxi Cihu Trail Introduction
With the passage of time, Cihu Mausoleum has become the "Two Jiang Cultural Park," a recreational site with international tourist competitiveness. When visiting Cihu in Daxi, be sure not to miss the two trails near the mausoleum that lead close to the mountains and water. These two paths, the "Tou Liao Ecological Trail" and the "Cihu Trail," run alongside the Caoling River. The Tou Liao Ecological Trail, adjacent to the Cihu Mausoleum, offers picturesque views of the farmland. Continuing along the Cihu Trail, in addition to enjoying the beautiful swans at Cihu Lake, the changing of the honor guard is a must-see performance that attracts everyone's attention. The entrance to the "Tou Liao Ecological Trail" is located next to the Daxi Mausoleum, and the trail spans approximately 1.2 kilometers, allowing visitors to appreciate the scenic river views along the path by the riverbank. Elegant white herons occasionally fly by, complementing the concise ecological explanation boards along the Caoling River, accompanied by the soothing sound of flowing water, making it a therapeutic experience. The wide and gentle path is perfect for outdoor strolls for both children and adults, even in the summer months. Additionally, do not forget to gaze at Taoyuan's only volcano, Caoling Mountain, which is also Taiwan's only shield volcano. Although the volcano has long ceased to erupt, it still showcases lush green forests; during the winter fallow season, the vibrant cosmos flower fields create an impressive sight. The round-trip journey on the Tou Liao Trail takes about twenty minutes, leading to the "Cihu Trail," which begins at the Cihu Visitor Center. Visitors can first obtain travel information about Cihu and nearby attractions at the visitor center, which also displays various artifacts and films from the Two Jiang era, making it worth a visit. Entering the Cihu Trail from the entrance next to the visitor center, the trail, albeit short, allows for different angles to appreciate the beauty of Cihu Lake. With trees and bamboo groves lining the path, it is mostly shaded, ensuring a pleasant walk away from the sun, allowing for a delightful experience surrounded by greenery. If walking along the picturesque shores of Cihu Lake, visitors will reach the endpoint of the trail—the Cihu Mausoleum, which is known for its geographical environment facing the mountains and water. Due to Chiang Kai-shek's eternal rest here, this location is also guarded by military police, and the hourly changing of the guard ceremony has become a focal point of attention, attracting many visitors each day with the ceremonial rifle drill.
