Taoyuan Disaster Prevention Education Center Introduction
The Taoyuan Disaster Prevention Education Center was formerly a training ground for volunteer firefighters and officially opened in October 2018. It serves as an educational venue and is Taiwan's first iconic disaster prevention exhibition site, combining smart technology with disaster prevention education in a highly experiential facility. The center brings disaster prevention education to life, allowing learning through experiences and instilling correct disaster knowledge into every household. The gray and white cement building appears stable and bright, with a vivid bronze statue of a firefighter at the entrance welcoming visitors into this environmental education space. Upon entering the Taoyuan Disaster Prevention Education Center, the interior is filled with playful design and lofty, bright spaces, immediately capturing the attention of young travelers. Due to the broad and complex nature of disaster prevention education, the importance of the center is further emphasized. Through simple, approachable operations, it attracts the public to deeply understand various crisis responses, making disaster prevention education relatable and gamified, thus completely upgrading the traditional experiential model. The two-story center features five major exhibition areas: Area A for Natural Disasters, Area B for Prevention and Response, Area C for Fire, Area D for a Safe Home, and Area E for Firefighters, equipped with interactive experiences such as Disaster Prevention Little Painter, CPR with AR instant feedback, a CO escape room, a VR fire-fighting experience, a smoke experience room, an earthquake experience platform, and a Disaster Adventure, allowing every little child to transform into a rescue hero, defeating fire-breathing monsters or understanding disaster supplies through building blocks, and even simulating ambulance driving to challenge the safe transport of patients to hospitals. In addition to existing facility experiences, the Disaster Prevention Education Center actively seeks external collaborations, whether it is working with nearby tourist factories to hold DIY activities or inviting beloved character mascots for appearances. The center regularly launches new activities, ensuring that even frequent visitors can enjoy a refreshing experience. In line with environmental education course promotion, the Taoyuan Disaster Prevention Education Center is the country's first environmental education facility themed on "Disaster Prevention and Relief," offering two environmental education courses, "ESCAPE" and "Smoke Adventures," which can be reserved online. These courses help assess home safety and teach proper escape methods from fire scenarios.
