Taoyuan Disaster Prevention Education Center Introduction
The Taoyuan Disaster Prevention Education Center was formerly a training ground for volunteer firefighters and officially opened in October 2018. It serves as an educational space and is Taiwan's first prominent disaster prevention exhibition venue, combining smart technology with disaster prevention education in a highly interactive experience center. It aims to make disaster prevention education lively and engaging, allowing families to learn correct disaster prevention knowledge through experiences. The gray and white concrete building looks solid and bright, and a lifelike statue of a firefighter in action at the entrance welcomes visitors into this environmental education space. Upon entering the Taoyuan Disaster Prevention Education Center, visitors are greeted by whimsical indoor designs and a high, bright sense of space, quickly capturing the attention of young travelers. Given the broad and complex field of disaster prevention education, the importance of the center is highlighted by its approachable and easy-to-understand operations, which attract the public to learn about various crisis response methods. The center aims to integrate disaster prevention education into daily life and gamify it, upgrading the traditional experience model. Hence, the two-story facility features five main exhibition areas: Area A for natural disasters, Area B for prevention and response, Area C for fire safety, Area D for secure homes, and Area E for firefighting heroes. Interactive experiences include disaster prevention painting, CPR with AR instant feedback, a CO escape room, a fire VR experience, a smoke experience room, an earthquake simulation platform, and a disaster adventure story, allowing every child to transform into a little hero in rescue operations, battling fire-breathing monsters or learning to identify disaster supplies through building blocks, while also simulating an ambulance driver and challenging themselves to safely transport patients to the hospital. In addition to the existing facility experiences, the Disaster Prevention Education Center actively seeks collaborative opportunities. Whether partnering with nearby tourist factories to host DIY activities or inviting popular character mascots for appearances, the center regularly rolls out new activities, ensuring that even frequent visitors can enjoy fresh experiences! Along with promoting environmental education programs, the Taoyuan Disaster Prevention Education Center is the first environmental education facility in the country themed around "Disaster Prevention and Rescue." It offers two environmental education courses, "ESCAPE" and "The Smoke Adventure," which can be reserved online. These courses provide an opportunity to assess home environment safety and learn proper fire evacuation methods.
