The building was originally Renhe Elementary School. After being closed for 20 years due to population decline, it was renovated in 2003 under the "Reuse of Idle Spaces" initiative by the Council for Cultural Affairs. To commemorate the hard work of ancestors who established the "Jin Guang Cheng Keng Hao" and opened up new territories, it was named Jin Guang Cheng Cultural Center.
