The building was originally Renhe Elementary School, which was abandoned for 20 years due to population outflow. It was renovated in 2003 under the Council for Cultural Affairs' "Unused Space Reutilization" program. To commemorate the hard work of the ancestors who pioneered the land under the "King Kwang Cheng Development Project," it was named King Kwang Cheng Cultural Center.
