Ching Chuan Catholic Church Introduction
The tranquil wind echoes the solemnity of the chapel as it passes through the suspension bridge and slowly ascends the stone steps. The Ching Chuan Catholic Church stands on the mountainside, overlooking the Five Peaks terrain as if embracing it. This unique church serves as the center of art, spirit, and culture for the village. In 1976, the young Father Ding Songqing arrived in Ching Chuan, building the church with love and beauty. Inside the church, the vividly colored stained glass, along with the murals and wooden sculptures found throughout, and even the large mosaic wall beside the basketball court outside the church, are all creations of the priest. He skillfully blended biblical stories with indigenous legends. Father Ding infused his colorful youth into Ching Chuan, adding artistic warmth and vibrant life to this originally desolate area.
