Fengshan Xian Gong Temple Introduction
Located at the southern end of Fengshan, at the intersection of Guotai Road and Wujia Road, the Xian Gong Temple is officially named "Fengshan Zhen Nan Temple". The temple's origins can be traced back to the Qing Dynasty during the Qianlong period when Fengshan was established, boasting a history of over two hundred years. When the ancestors cleared the land and sowed seeds here, they built the temple at the south gate of Fengshan City to pray for favorable weather and bountiful harvests, primarily worshiping Lü Dongbin, Li Tieguai, and the God of Agriculture, Shennong. The Xian Gong Temple has undergone several renovations and expansions; besides the main hall, it also includes the Five Gates, the Civil and Military Sanctums, the Doumu Chen Palace, and the Lingxiao Treasure Palace, forming a magnificent Min Nan-style temple complex with intricate carvings, wall decorations, corbels, and stone pillars. Among its notable features are the Nine Dragon Pond and the Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea mural, which are particularly praised by worshippers. The Xian Gong Temple is spacious and grand, accompanied by the nearby Eight Immortals Park, enhancing its majesty. During various prayer ceremonies for deities' birthdays or festivals such as Lantern Festival and the Double Ninth Festival on the ninth day of the ninth month, it attracts thousands of believers, making it a vibrant event of folk culture and religious tradition in Fengshan District.
