The only preserved city gate in its original form within the ruins of Xincheng is the Dongbian Gate, along with the Dongfu Bridge crossing the Fengshan River.

The remnants of the Qing Dynasty Fengshan County City within Fengshan District are referred to as the New City to distinguish it from the Old City of Zuoying in Kaohsiung City.
