The remnants of the Qing Dynasty Fengshan County City located in the urban area of Fengshan City are referred to as the "New City" to distinguish them from the old town of Zuoying in Kaohsiung City. Among the ruins of the New City, the only preserved city gate in its original form is the Dongbian Gate, along with the Dongfu Bridge spanning the Fengshan River.
