Paiwan Three Treasures Craft Museum Introduction
By chance, the father of Paiwan glass beads, Wumas, discovered that he had been preoccupied with Han life while forgetting that the glass bead culture within his tribe was worth exploring. He began to study the long-lost techniques of glass bead making and, after years of effort, finally found the special formula for the crystal clay. He developed a way to fabricate realistic glass bead strings, not only finding a path for cultural entrepreneurship for the tribe but also earning the heartfelt gratitude of the tribal women. Hence, these bead strings, which symbolize identity and status, returned to cultural life in weddings, gradually reconnecting the severed cultural ties.
