Boli Forest Recreation Area Introduction
Baoli Forest is located in Baoli Village, Checheng Township, Pingtung County, and is affiliated with National Pingtung University of Science and Technology as an experimental forest. It primarily serves as a research and teaching facility for forestry students and faculty, but is also open to visitors from outside the university. The forest is home to many tropical tree species, abundant enough to resemble a tropical botanical garden. The rich planting also attracts various animal species, enhancing the ecological diversity of Baoli Forest, making it a perfect place for outdoor enthusiasts to explore nature. Walking along the country path leading to Baoli Forest, the hustle and bustle of the world fades away, replaced by the sight of grazing cattle and sheep. Witnessing their leisurely stroll lifts one's own steps in a lighthearted manner. Upon entering Baoli Forest, visitors are welcomed by a shaded walking path lined with tall trees, where the air is infused with the fragrance of grass and trees. This is the magic of phytoncides, uplifting the mood as one walks, accompanied by the harmonious sounds of chirping insects and singing birds, reminiscent of a paradise where worries quickly dissipate. Due to the influence of topography, temperature, and wind, Baoli Forest predominantly plants drought-resistant, wind-resistant, and rare plants found in the Hengchun Peninsula and Lanyu, including Acacia, Candelilla Tree, Leucaena, Ivory Tree, Persimmon, Split-leaved Papaya, and Mahogany. The accompanying wildlife includes Cattle Egret, Grey-faced Buzzard, Green Mountain Snail, Eurasian Kestrel, Green Tree Lizard, and Black Bulbul. This seemingly tranquil scene is, in fact, vibrant, showcasing the vitality of life in its full expression. If one still craves more after visiting Baoli Forest, they can head to the neighboring Baoli Ecological Leisure Farm (also known as Biyuan Villa), which features accommodations, camping areas, barbecue pits, and water play zones, alongside hiking trails that lead deep into the forest. In the middle of the farm, there is also a Ficus macrophylla with an age of about a thousand years, whose trunk requires a dozen people to encircle, making it a prized treasure of Baoli Ecological Leisure Farm.
