Neiwen Blog Introduction
Neiwen Village is located on the left bank of the Fenggang River upstream, about 1 kilometer west of the watershed between the Fenggang River and the Liren River. It is divided into Neiwen First Lane, Neiwen Second Lane, and Neihai. Neiwen Village was historically formed by four settlements, historically inhabited along both banks of the Neiwen River, a tributary of the Fangshan River, and it holds significant cultural importance with a long history and considerable influence. However, after the end of Japanese rule, due to the unsuitable agricultural conditions of the original site, the villagers made a public agreement to relocate in 1948. From April 1948 to October 1950, they moved in batches. Most relocated to the current site, while some tribespeople migrated to the present-day villages of Fenglin, Neishi, Shizi, Mudan, and Nanshi. The two major chief families also moved to Dongyuan Village in Mudan Township and the central Lun Village in Shizi. Located in a remote mountain area, Neiwen Village relies on the Southern Cross-Island Highway for external communication, making transportation inconvenient. Most young adults have gone away to seek work, leaving mostly the elderly and children in the village. Influenced by the climate, the vicinity of this village features wetlands, swamps, and rainforest ecosystems, which are distinctive characteristics of a tropical landscape.
