Shougang Trail Introduction
The Shougang Checkpoint on the Shougang Trail is located at the border between Pingtung and Taitung. After being abandoned for many years, it has recently become a must-stop for cyclists traveling around the island via the Southern Cross-Island Highway. The walls of the checkpoint and nearby signs have been signed by cyclists, creating a unique scene along the Shougang section. Riding along County Road 199 towards Neipu and Mudan, one can see lush pencil trees on both sides and beautiful wild ginger flowers covering the ground. The refreshing breeze along the trail makes cyclists feel that the journey is truly worth it.
