Shougang Trail Introduction
The Shougang Checkpoint on the Shougang Forest Road is located at the border between Pingtung and Taitung. After being abandoned for many years, it has recently become a must-visit spot for cyclists traveling around the island via the Southern Cross-Island Highway. The walls of the checkpoint and the nearby directional signs have become a canvas for signatures from cyclists, creating a unique scene along the Shougang section. Riding along County Road 199 next to Shougang towards Neipu and Mudan, one can admire the lush Bamboos and the beautiful wild ginger flowers scattered on the ground. The refreshing breeze along the forest road leaves cyclists feeling that their trip was well worth it.
