Shougang Mountain Trail Introduction
The ShouTao Checkpoint on the ShouTao Forest Road is located at the border of Pingtung and Taitung. After being abandoned for many years, it has recently become a must-visit spot for cyclists traveling around the island via the Southern Cross-Island Highway. The checkpoint's wall and nearby signs have been signed by many cyclists, creating a unique sight along the ShouTao section. Riding along County Road 199 beside ShouTao towards Neiweng and Mudan, one can see the lush bottle trees and the beautiful wild ginger lily scattered on the ground. The refreshing breeze of the forest road leaves cyclists feeling that their journey was well worth it.
