Shoufeng Forest Road Introduction
The Shougang Checkpoint on the Shougang Forest Road is located on the border between Pingtung and Taitung. Abandoned for many years, it has recently become a must-visit spot for cyclists traveling around the island via the Southern Cross-Island Highway. The walls of the checkpoint and nearby signboards have been signed by many cyclists, creating a unique sight along the Shougang section. Riding along County Road 199 towards Neiwen and Mudan, one can see the lush, green pine trees and vibrant wild ginger flowers along the way. The refreshing breeze in the forest road makes cyclists feel that the journey is well worth it.
