Rice Culture Hall Introduction
The Rice Homeland Museum is located beside the eastern road of the Xin Kai Yuan Lao Tian area in Chihshang, Taitung. The original building was an idle warehouse of the Wan'an community, which has been transformed into an important base for promoting the rice culture of Chihshang through the efforts of local residents. It offers a variety of community tours, DIY activities, and travel services, such as kiln baking, rice-based DIY, and farm experience tours, while also providing bicycles for rent. In addition to showcasing rural life, it sells various local agricultural products, including Wan'an rice, rice noodles, and peeled spicy peppers. The second floor serves as a dining area where visitors can enjoy Hakka特色 dishes and beverages. Here, all the unique activities of Chihshang are creatively packaged. The signature dish on the menu is the countryside lunch served in a bowl, featuring steaming hot, fragrant rice accompanied by authentic Hakka salted pork and delectable pickled side dishes, wrapped in brightly colored Hakka floral cloth, which is both chic and full of Hakka charm. Drinks and desserts like rice pearl milk tea, rice pudding, and rice cake are also uniquely Chihshang, so visitors who enjoy trying new flavors should not miss out. After a satisfying meal, the first floor offers a variety of local agricultural products, allowing visitors to pack up selected items to take home.
