Rice Culture Museum Introduction
The Rice Original Homeland Museum is located beside the eastern road of the Xin Ka Yuan Old Field area in Chihshang, Taitung. The original building used to be an idle warehouse in the Wan-an community. With the joint efforts of local residents, it has transformed into an important base for promoting Chihshang's rice culture. The museum offers rich community tours, DIY activities, and travel services, such as rice cake making, agricultural experiences, and more. It also provides bicycles for rental to visitors. In addition to showcasing rural life, it sells a variety of local agricultural products, including Wan-an rice, rice noodles, and peeled spicy peppers. The second floor features a dining area where visitors can enjoy Hakka specialty dishes and beverages. The highlight of the menu is the rural lunch bowl, which contains steaming hot, fragrant rice accompanied by authentic Hakka salted pork and delicious pickled side dishes. The bowl is wrapped in brightly colored Hakka floral cloth, making it unique and full of Hakka charm. Drinks and desserts such as rice pearl milk tea, rice pudding, and rice cake are also distinctive offerings from Chihshang that visitors shouldn’t miss. If you're still feeling hungry, the first floor has various local agricultural products available, allowing visitors to pack and take home selected items.
