Rice Origin Museum Introduction
The Rice Original Village is located along the eastern side road of the Xin Kai Yuan Old Field area in Chishang, Taitung. The original building was an unused warehouse in the Wan'an community. With the joint efforts of community residents, it has become an important base for promoting Chishang rice culture, providing rich community tours, DIY activities, and travel services such as traditional oven baking, rice food DIY, and farming experience tours. It also offers bicycles for rent to visitors. In addition to showcasing rural life, a variety of agricultural specialty products such as Wan'an rice, rice noodles, and peeled chili peppers are available for sale. The second floor serves as a dining area where visitors can enjoy Hakka cuisine and beverages. This venue incorporates the unique experiences of Chishang all in one place. The highlight dish on the menu is the rural lunch bowl, which features hot and fragrant rice paired with authentic Hakka salted pork and delicious pickled side dishes, all wrapped in vibrant Hakka floral fabric—a charming representation of Hakka culture. Drinks and desserts featuring rice, such as rice pearl milk tea, rice pudding, and rice cake, are also distinctively Chishang and should not be missed by adventurous visitors. After dining, guests can still find a variety of agricultural specialty products on the first floor, with carefully selected items for visitors to take home.
