Hengnan Temple Introduction

He Nan Temple is located in Yanliao Village, Shoufeng Township, Hualien County. Inheriting the Dharma lineage of Master Guangxuan, it is not only a well-known Buddhist temple in Eastern Taiwan but also a hall of Buddhist art. Established in 1967 by Master Chuanqing, who traveled over mountains and valleys to build this place of practice, the temple is situated by the sea, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The architectural style is simple and unadorned, and behind the temple stands a statue of the Auspicious Guanyin in pale yellow, created in collaboration with the internationally renowned sculptor Professor Yang Yingfeng. This statue can be considered a national treasure-level artistic masterpiece, and its majestic form has become a spiritual symbol of He Nan Temple. He Nan Temple promotes Buddhism through "Buddhist Art Multimedia," integrating Buddhist studies, literature, music, fine arts, voice acting, photography, and computer technology. Through beautiful audiovisual presentations, it conveys the profound and intricate teachings of Buddhism, deeply resonating with people's hearts, and has received high acclaim, making He Nan Temple a pioneer in modern religious art. In addition to regular prayer meetings, the temple hosts various activities, including a Buddhist Art Festival, Lantern Festival, concerts, and essay, poetry, and short story competitions, as well as the annual summer He Nan Buddhist Arts College Camp for college students or children's camp, and a charity fair at the end of October. These activities are open to the public and free to participate in.
