He Nan Temple Introduction
HeNan Temple is located in Yanliao Village, Shoufeng Township, Hualien County. Inheriting the Dharma lineage of Master Guangming, it is not only a famous Buddhist temple in Eastern Taiwan but also a hall of Buddhist art. Established in 1967 by the founding abbot Master Chuanqing, who traversed mountains and ridges to build this place for practice, the temple is situated by the sea, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The architectural style is simple and unadorned, with a light yellow statue of Guanyin standing majestically atop the lush mountains behind the temple, which is a collaboration between Master Chuanqing and internationally renowned sculptor Professor Yang Yingfeng. This artwork is considered a national treasure, and its dignified appearance has become the spiritual symbol of HeNan Temple. HeNan Temple promotes Buddhism through "Buddhist Art Multimedia," integrating Buddhism, literature, music, fine arts, dubbing, photography, and computer technology. By presenting profound Buddhist teachings through beautiful audio-visual imagery, the wisdom of Buddhism naturally penetrates the hearts of people, receiving high acclaim and making HeNan Temple a leader in modern religious art. In addition to group meditation sessions, the temple regularly hosts events, including a Buddhist Art Festival, Lantern Festival, concerts, and competitions for essays, poetry, and short stories, as well as the HeNan Buddhist Art University Camp or Children's Camp in mid-summer, and a charity fair at the end of October. These events are open to the public and free to participate. For those interested in learning more, please visit the HeNan Temple website (URL: http://www.indra-jala.com.tw/flash/home.php).
