He Nan Temple Introduction
He Nan Temple is located in Yanliao Village, Shoufong Township, Hualien County. Inheriting the Dharma lineage of the late Master Guang Nian, it is not only a well-known Buddhist temple in Eastern Taiwan but also a hall of Buddhist art. Established by the founding abbot, Master Chuan Qing, in 1967, the temple is nestled between mountains and the sea, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The architectural style is simple and unpretentious, with a majestic statue of the Guanyin of Blessings in pale yellow standing on the lush mountains behind the temple. This statue is a collaborative masterpiece created by Master Chuan Qing and the internationally renowned sculptor Professor Yang Ying Feng, regarded as a national treasure-level artistic creation, whose dignified presence has become the spiritual symbol of He Nan Temple. He Nan Temple promotes Buddhism through "Buddhist Art Multimedia," integrating Buddhist studies, literature, music, fine arts, voice acting, photography, and computer technology. Through beautiful and captivating audiovisual presentations, it conveys the profound and subtle teachings of Buddhism, naturally embedding the wisdom of Dharma into people's hearts, receiving high acclaim and establishing He Nan Temple as a leader in modern religious art. In addition to meditation sessions, the temple regularly hosts events including a Buddhist Art Festival, Lantern Festival, concerts, as well as essay, poetry, and short story competitions. Furthermore, it organizes an annual summer Buddhist Art Camp for college students or children, and a charity fair at the end of October. These activities are open to the public and free to participate. If interested or seeking to learn more, you can visit the He Nan Temple website (URL: http://www.indra-jala.com.tw/flash/home.php).
