Hunan Temple Introduction

He Nan Temple is located in Yanliao Village, Shoufeng Township, Hualien County. Inheriting the Dharma lineage of Master Guangqian, it is not only a well-known Buddhist site in Eastern Taiwan but also a hall of Buddhist art. Established in 1967 by the founding abbot, Master Chuanqing, who traversed mountains to practice here, the temple is situated by the mountains and the sea, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Its architectural style is simple and unadorned. Behind the temple stands a statue of the yellow Guanyin, a collaborative masterpiece by Master Chuanqing and internationally renowned sculptor Professor Yang Yingfeng, considered a national treasure of artistic work. Its dignified form has long become the spiritual symbol of He Nan Temple. He Nan Temple promotes Buddhism through "Buddhist Art Multimedia," integrating Buddhist studies, literature, music, fine arts, voice acting, photography, and computer technology. Through beautiful audio-visual presentations, it conveys profound Buddhist principles, naturally embedding the wisdom of Buddhism in people's hearts, receiving high praise and making He Nan Temple a leader in modern religious art. In addition to regular Dharma assembly practices, the temple holds various events, including a Buddhist Art Festival, Lantern Festival, concerts, and essay, poetry, and short story competitions, as well as the annual summer He Nan Buddhist Art Camp for college students or children and a charity fair at the end of October. These activities are open to the public and free to participate.
