He Nan Temple Introduction
He Nan Temple is located in Yanliao Village, Shoufeng Township, Hualien County. It inherits the dharma lineage of Master Guangyue Qin and is not only a renowned Buddhist site in Eastern Taiwan, but also a hall of Buddhist art. Established in 1967 by the founding abbot, Master Chuanqing, who came over mountains and valleys to practice here, the temple is built by the sea and overlooks the Pacific Ocean. Its architectural style is simple and unadorned, and behind the temple stands a majestic pale yellow statue of Guanyin, completed in collaboration with the internationally renowned sculptor Professor Yang Yingfeng, which can be regarded as a national treasure of art. Its dignified and solemn appearance has become the spiritual symbol of He Nan Temple. He Nan Temple promotes Buddhism through "multimedia Buddhist art," integrating Buddhist studies, literature, music, fine arts, dubbing, photography, and computer technology. Through beautiful and moving audio-visual presentations, it conveys the profound and subtle principles of Buddhism, naturally ingraining the wisdom of Buddhism deeply into people's hearts, and has received high acclaim, making He Nan Temple a leader in modern religious art. In addition to regular meditation sessions, the temple also hosts various events, including Buddhist art festivals, Lantern Festival displays, concerts, and competitions for essays, poetry, and short stories, as well as the He Nan Buddhist Art University Camp for adults and children in mid-summer and a charity fair at the end of October. These activities are open to the public and free to participate in.
