Qiqi Battlefield Introduction
Chiayi High Ground is a scenic spot that offers a 360-degree view. This area is called Chiayi High Ground due to its elevation of 77 meters. It was previously a military controlled zone, with access roads being narrow military paths surrounded by dense weeds, making it inconvenient for vehicles to enter; parking is available at the entrance. Entering along the road for several hundred meters, one will come to an abandoned artillery position, and a few dozen meters further lies the highest point at the northernmost end, where there is an abandoned barracks. The second-floor platform of this barracks is the best location to overlook the surrounding scenery, providing a view of the Hualien River estuary. This is also the northernmost point of the Central Mountain Range. In summer, be cautious of insects, mosquitoes, snakes, ants, and the risk of heatstroke. Moreover, whether for photography enthusiasts or those who enjoy the scenery, Chiayi High Ground is certainly a recommended destination on any travel list.
