Walami Trail Introduction
The Walami Trail is located in the Naan area of Yuli, Hualien. The trail extends approximately 13.5 kilometers from the entrance to the Walami Mountain Lodge, with minimal elevation changes along the way, making it an easy and pleasant hike. The name "Walami" originates from the Bunun language, referring to a type of fern, which contributes to the cool and humid environment of the area. In summer, it provides a refreshing experience, while in winter, the broadleaf trees start to turn red and yellow, creating a rich and vibrant landscape that is truly beautiful. Along the Walami Trail, you can find scenic spots like the Mountain Wind Waterfall, where visitors can enjoy the coolness of the waterfall and take a short rest at the nearby pavilion. Continuing another 4.5 kilometers along the trail leads you to "Jiaxin," a five-star camping area in the words of hikers. Jiaxin currently has completed pavilions, washing stations, and restroom facilities available for campers to use free of charge! To hike deeper into the trail, obtaining entry permits is required for both the mountain and the park. With proper application, you can reach the 13.5-kilometer Walami Mountain Lodge, which also requires a permit. Thus, hiking enthusiasts can plan a two-day, one-night trip to fully experience the Walami Trail.
