Old Railway Cultural Circle Introduction
The Old Railway in Hualien City is a segment of the old Hualien-Taitung Railway that once passed through the city and reached the seaside train station, with a total length of about 1.8 kilometers. After the completion of the North-Link Railway in 1979, the transportation focus shifted, and the old railway gradually faded into the chaotic urban landscape. In 2003, a railway path on Chenggong Street, measuring 18 meters long, was completed in the urban area. Although this is the shortest road in Hualien City, it plays a crucial role in reviving the old business district's former glory. This old railway from Zhongzheng Road to Jieyue Street allows visitors to experience the bustling atmosphere of Hualien's markets, where a variety of creative ideas emerge along the roadside, facilitating unique interactions and trade. In this small city nestled between mountains and sea, it is easy to savor the charm of Hualien's markets within walking distance. When all the lights are turned on in the shops at night, a leisurely stroll here is also quite enjoyable. When in Hualien, be sure to take a walk and explore this area to make your visit worthwhile!
