Old Railway Culture District Introduction
Hualien Old Railway is a segment of the railway that once connected the Hualien-Taitung Railway through Hualien City to the seaside train terminal, extending approximately 1.8 kilometers. After the completion of the North Link Railway in 1979, the focus of transportation shifted, and the old railway gradually faded away among the chaotic city landscape. In 2003, a railway road of 18 meters was opened on Success Street in the city center. Although this is the shortest road in Hualien City, it plays a crucial role in reviving the old business district's former glory. This old railway, stretching from Zhongzheng Road to Jianyue Street, allows visitors to experience the vibrant market scene in Hualien, with various creative vendors springing up along the roadside, using their unique styles to make friends and sell goods. In this small city between mountains and sea, it's easy to enjoy the market fun within walking distance; at night, when all the shop lights are turned on, strolling around here is quite charming. When visiting Hualien, taking a walk here is a must!
