Old Rail Culture District Introduction
Hualien City Old Railway is a section of railway that once connected the Hualien-Taitung Railway through Hualien City to the seaside train station, with a total length of approximately 1.8 kilometers. After the opening of the North-Link Line in 1979, the focus of transportation shifted, and the old railway gradually faded into the chaotic urban landscape. In 2003, a 18-meter-long railway road on Success Street was successfully opened in the urban area. Although it is the shortest road in Hualien City, it plays a crucial role in reviving the former glory of the old business district. This old railway stretches from Zhongzheng Road to Jieyue Street, where visitors can experience the bustling market atmosphere of Hualien; various creative stalls emerge along the sides of the road, engaging in unique ways to make friends and sell goods. In this small mountain-seaside city, it is easy to savor the charm of Hualien's markets within walking distance. At night, when the lights in all the shops are on, even a simple stroll here is quite delightful. When visiting Hualien, taking a walk here is a must to make the trip worthwhile!
