Pacific Ocean Park Introduction
Pacific Park includes the South and North Waterfronts. The South Waterfront Park was formerly home to the South Harbor Night Market, which served the people of Hualien and visitors for 28 years. After the vendors relocated, the area underwent renovations and now greets visitors with a brand new appearance. The North and South coastal areas were once hidden gems for locals to enjoy the sea. After the renovations, not only has green landscaping been added, but the artificial reefs that previously blocked coastal erosion have been removed, and natural methods using large stones have been employed to create natural embankments, enhancing the coastline with international scenic views. The South Waterfront Park is connected by several green spaces, adorned with indigenous-style pavilions and decorations, with a bike path running along the coastline. Although the North Waterfront Park doesn’t have as much space as the South Waterfront Park, it features a planned beach volleyball area that is a favorite among young people. The South and North Waterfront Parks form a short cycling route and create beautiful coastal scenery for Hualien City. Pacific Landscape Park is lively both day and night. During the day, visitors can ride bicycles, enjoy the sea, and take walks, while at night the focus shifts to dining, listening to the waves, and stargazing. Pacific Landscape Park transforms the park into a recreational area, rejuvenating the natural landscapes and coastal plants, and providing venues for children's puppet shows, street performers, indigenous dance performances, and Amis cultural festivals. During holidays, markets are held to showcase agricultural products, as well as events that combine quality lifestyle industries and cultural creative industries with green technology activities.
