Pacific Ocean Park Introduction
Pacific Ocean Park includes both the South and North Coastlines. The South Coast Park was once home to the South Coast Night Market, which served the people of Hualien and visitors for 28 years. After the vendors relocated, it underwent renovation and now presents a fresh appearance to tourists from various places. The South and North Coastlines were previously private spots for locals to enjoy the sea. The renovation not only enhanced the landscaping but primarily involved removing artificial reefs that previously hindered coastal erosion, replacing them with natural barriers formed by large rocks, giving the coastline a more globally appealing landscape. The South Coast Park consists of several connected green spaces adorned with indigenous-themed pavilions and decorations, with a bike path running along the coastline. While North Coast Park may not boast as much area as South Coast Park, the planned beach volleyball courts have become a favorite among the youth. The South and North Coast Parks can be linked as a short cycling route, contributing to a beautiful coastal view in Hualien City. Both the daytime and nighttime activities at Pacific Ocean Landscape Park are vibrant. During the day, visitors can ride bikes, enjoy the sea, and take walks, while at night, the focus shifts to dining, listening to the waves, and stargazing. Pacific Ocean Landscape Park transforms into a recreational area, featuring natural landforms and coastal plant restoration, as well as providing spaces for family puppet shows, street performances, indigenous dance performances, and events celebrating Amis culture. During holidays, markets are held to showcase agricultural products and host activities focused on quality living and cultural creativity, integrating green technology.
