Kong hung Island (General Yu Island) Introduction
Jiangjun Island is primarily composed of siliceous basalt, with a flat surface, belonging to a typical basalt plateau. It is only one nautical mile away from Wang-an Island, with a journey of about 5 minutes. In the early years, it prospered due to the collection of corals and aragonite, and the small buildings along the fishing port street were lined up closely together, earning it the nickname "Little Hong Kong." This island is also one of the few places in Penghu where buildings began to be constructed early on, hence there are many three to four-story houses here, along with a significant number of narrow alleyways with old houses that feature traditional grocery stores. Nowadays, most residents make a living through fishing, and the low and old fishing village style along the port has preserved the breathtaking corals and underwater ecology of the Penghu waters due to careful conservation. There are four major temples on the island: Jiangjun Temple, Yong'an Temple, Tianhou Temple, and Jiangjun Chapel. Among them, Tianhou Temple was funded by local residents and is known for three notable achievements in Penghu: the highest expenditure, the most lavish banquets, and the quickest construction time. Here, you can see exquisite stone carvings. Circumnavigating Jiangjun Island offers a distant view of Lulian Island's "Sail Island," which is about 25 meters high and made of basalt. It features a pavilion from which you can relax and unwind; this area is also an important gathering place for sea anglers. [Recommended stay time] 2 hours or overnight.
