Kongita Island (Kongita Yu) Introduction
Jiangjun Island is primarily composed of siliceous basalt, with a flat surface, characteristic of typical basalt table mountains. It is just one nautical mile away from Wang'an Island, with a sailing time of about 5 minutes. In earlier years, the island prospered due to the harvesting of corals and stones, and the streets of the fishing port were lined with small houses, earning it the nickname "Little Hong Kong." This island is also one of the few areas in Penghu that began constructing buildings early on, resulting in many two-, three-, and four-story houses, as well as a significant number of narrow alley old houses featuring traditional grocery stores. Today, most islanders make a living through fishing, and the quaint scenery of the old fishing village by the port, along with the stunning coral and underwater ecology of the Penghu waters, has been preserved due to careful protection. The island is home to four major temples: Jiangjun Temple, Yong'an Palace, Goddess Temple, and Jiangjun Chapel. Among these, the Goddess Temple was built with donations from the islanders and once set three records in Penghu: the most expensive construction cost, the most lavish banquets held, and the shortest construction time. Here, you can see exquisite stone carving craftsmanship. Circling around Jiangjun Island, you can have a distant view of Lulian Island’s "Boat Sails Island," a basaltic formation about 25 meters high. There is a pavilion on top where you can relax and unwind, and this island is also an important gathering place for sea fishing enthusiasts. [Recommended stay time] 2 hours or overnight.
