Jiangjun Island Introduction
Kongjian Island predominantly consists of siliceous basalt, with a flat surface, making it a typical basalt table mountain. It is located just one nautical mile away from Wang-an Island, with a travel time of approximately 5 minutes by boat. In earlier years, the island prospered due to the collection of corals and seashells, resulting in densely packed small houses along the fishing port streets, earning it the nickname "Little Hong Kong." This island is one of the few areas in Penghu that began constructing buildings early on, hence the prevalence of two to four-story buildings. Additionally, there are numerous narrow alleys with old houses, featuring traditional grocery stores. Currently, most island residents make their living from fishing, and the low, dilapidated fishing village by the port preserves the stunning corals and underwater ecosystem of the Penghu waters due to careful protection. There are four major temples on the island: Jiangjun Temple, Yong'an Palace, Tianhou Temple, and Jiangjun Chapel. Among them, Tianhou Temple was built with donations from the locals and set Penghu records for the most money spent, the most banquet tables set up, and the shortest construction time. Here, you can see exquisite stone carving craftsmanship. Circumventing Jiangjun Island, you can enjoy a distant view of the land-connected island "Boat Sail Island," which is a basalt formation about 25 meters high. There is a pavilion on top where you can relax and unwind; this land-connected island is also a key gathering place for sea anglers. [Recommended time to stay] 2 hours or an overnight stay.
