Kanghua Island Introduction
Jiangjun Island predominantly consists of siliceous basalt, with a flat surface, making it a typical basalt table mountain. It is only one nautical mile away from Wang'an Island, with a sailing time of about 5 minutes. In the early years, the island prospered due to the collection of corals and calcareous stones, and its harbor streets were lined with small buildings, earning it the nickname "Little Hong Kong." This island is also one of the few areas in Penghu where buildings began to be constructed early on, resulting in many three- and four-story buildings. Additionally, there are numerous narrow alleys with old houses that house traditional grocery stores. Nowadays, most residents make a living from fishing, and the picturesque fishing village by the port and the breathtaking coral and marine ecology of the Penghu waters have been preserved due to conservation efforts. The island features four major temples: Jiangjun Temple, Yong'an Palace, Tianhou Temple, and Jiangjun Chapel. Among them, Tianhou Temple was built with donations from locals and has set records in Penghu for the highest expenditure, the most abundant banquet tables, and the shortest construction time. Here, you can admire exquisite stone-carving craftsmanship. Circumventing Jiangjun Island, one can enjoy distant views of the land-connected "Chuanfan Island," a basalt formation approximately 25 meters high. A pavilion is set up there, providing a relaxing spot to unwind, and this land-connected island is also a significant gathering place for sea anglers. 【Recommended Stay Time】 2 hours or overnight.
