Painted Oil Drums (Fisherman's Wharf) Introduction
Penghu Fisherman's Wharf is located in the first and second fishing port area of Magong City, Penghu County. It features painted oil barrels at the second fishing port, a man-made scenic spot promoted by the county government in recent years. Originally used as oil storage tanks for fishing vessels at the second fishing port, these barrels have been painted with images of famous Penghu attractions. At night, illuminated with lights, they become a beautiful sight and a popular spot for tourists to take photos and for couples to stroll. The side facing the sea has the words "HI, PENGHU" written on it. This is also where boats depart for nighttime squid fishing from Magong. Next to the painted oil barrels, there is a wooden boardwalk and a pavilion for visitors to sit and relax. Near the artistic mural walls of the ice factory is the outdoor leisure corridor of the first fishing port, developed collaboratively by the Bureau of Energy and the Penghu County Government, utilizing solar energy to reduce carbon emissions, making the fishing port both eco-friendly and leisurely, showcasing the elegance of a slow-paced life in the fishing port. Walking along the fishing port near the painted oil barrels, one can find "Star of the Chrysanthemum Island," a large shopping plaza shaped like a ship, offering freshly caught seafood and many seafood products, as well as a dining area to taste fresh seafood, all with unique designs and comprehensive facilities. On the other side, a prominent sculpture named "Mother of the Ocean" stands at the first fishing port, an infinity-shaped sculpture filled with fish and wave patterns, symbolizing the abundant resources of the sea and fish products of the fishing port. This entire area connects together, making it a pleasant stroll at night to enjoy the sea breeze while appreciating the night view of the fishing port area along the Fisherman's Wharf and Star of the Chrysanthemum Island. To promote the gradual transformation of Magong's first fishing port into a recreational harbor, diversifying its leisure and recreational functions, attracting international tourists to visit Magong, and boosting the economic development of the surrounding harbor area, the A-Gao Yacht Club signed a renovation and operation transfer agreement with the Penghu County Government in May 2016, investing in the construction of "Penghu A-Gao Yacht Harbor," aiming to make this place a highlight for tourism in Magong, creating a magnetic effect that shapes Penghu into a unique image of the most beautiful bay in the world. After the A-Gao Yacht Group's establishment in Penghu, the Fisherman's Wharf gained a new look, and the painted mailboxes became more vibrant and lively against the backdrop of various yachts. Tourists now have more options to explore Penghu, and the new yacht tourism development, combined with the natural topography and marine advantages of Penghu, opens up a refreshing and more internationalized leisure travel culture in Penghu. 【Recommended stay time】 0.5 hours
