Painted Oil Drums (Fisherman's Wharf) Introduction
The Fisherman's Wharf in Penghu is located in the first and second fishing port area of Magong City, Penghu County. The colorful painted oil barrels at the second fishing port are a recent artificial landscape promoted by the county government. Originally, these barrels were used to supply fuel for fishing boats, but now, after being painted with famous attractions in Penghu and illuminated at night, they have transformed into a beautiful sight, making it a popular spot for tourists to take photos and for couples to stroll. The side of the oil barrel facing the sea features the words "HI, PENGHU." This is also the departure point for night squid fishing trips from Magong. Next to the painted oil barrels, there is a wooden walkway and a pavilion, close to an ice factory adorned with artistic mural walls, leading to the outdoor leisure corridor of the first fishing port. This area is a collaboration between the Bureau of Energy of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Penghu County Government, utilizing solar energy streetlights to reduce carbon emissions, creating an environmentally friendly and leisurely atmosphere, embodying the elegance of life in the fishing port. Walking along the harbor near the painted oil barrels, you can see "Star of the Chrysanthemum Island," a large shopping plaza shaped like a ship, offering fresh seafood harvested from the sea, many seafood products, and a restaurant area to enjoy fresh seafood, featuring a unique design and well-equipped facilities. On the other side, a prominent sculpture named "Mother of Ocean" stands at the first fishing port, shaped like the infinity symbol filled with fish and wave patterns, symbolizing the abundance of seafood and ocean resources akin to the concept of infinity. This area is interconnected, and walking around in the evening allows you to enjoy the sea breeze while admiring the night view of the harbor area, including Fisherman's Wharf and Star of the Chrysanthemum Island. To gradually transform Magong's first fishing port into a recreational and tourist port with diverse functions, attracting international tourists to visit and boosting the commercial and economic prosperity of the surrounding area, the Ayco Yacht Club signed a renovation and operation transfer agreement with the Penghu County Government in May 2016 to invest in the construction of the "Penghu Ayco Yacht Harbor." The goal is to make this place a highlight of Magong tourism, thereby creating a magnetic effect and shaping Penghu into a uniquely beautiful bay. With the arrival of the Ayco Yacht Group in Penghu, Fisherman's Wharf has gained a new look, and the painted oil barrels are more vibrant and lively with the decoration of yachts. Tourists now have more options to explore Penghu, and the new yacht tourism development, combined with Penghu's natural landscape and marine advantages, paves the way for a refreshing and more international recreational tourism culture in Penghu. 【Recommended Stay Time】 0.5 hours
