Painted Oil Drums (Fisherman's Wharf) Introduction
Penghu Fisherman's Wharf is located in the first and second fishing port area of Magong City, Penghu County. It is situated near the painted oil barrels at the second fishing port, a man-made landscape promoted by the county government in recent years. Originally, these oil tanks were used for supplying fuel to fishing boats at the second fishing port. After being painted with images of famous attractions in Penghu, and illuminated at night, they have become a beautiful sight, making it a popular spot for tourists to take pictures and a great place for couples to stroll. The side of the oil barrel facing the sea features the words "HI, PENGHU." This location is also the departure point for night fishing boats for squid. Next to the painted oil barrels, there is a wooden walkway and a pavilion for seating. Close to the artistic mural wall of the ice plant is the outdoor recreation corridor of the first fishing port, which was collaboratively developed by the Bureau of Energy and the Penghu County Government to create a street powered by solar energy, reducing carbon emissions and providing an eco-friendly and leisurely fishing port atmosphere that showcases the elegance of slow living. Walking along the fishing harbor near the painted oil barrels, one can see the "Star of Chrysanthemum Island," a large shopping plaza designed in the shape of a ship, offering fresh seafood sourced from the sea, various seafood products, and a restaurant area for enjoying fresh seafood, with unique architecture and complete facilities. On the other side, a prominent sculpture titled "Mother of the Ocean" stands at the first fishing port, featuring an infinity-shaped design filled with fish and wave lines, symbolizing the endless supply of fish and marine resources from the fishing port. This area is interconnected, and during nighttime strolls, visitors can enjoy the sea breeze while admiring the night view of the fishing port along the Fisherman's Wharf and the Star of Chrysanthemum Island. To promote the gradual transformation of Magong's first fishing port into a tourist and recreational harbor, diversifying its leisure and entertainment offerings, and attracting international tourists to visit Magong to boost the surrounding commercial and economic prosperity, the Agogo Yacht Club signed an operational transfer agreement with the Penghu County Government in May 2016 to invest in the construction of the "Penghu Agogo Yacht Marina." The aim is to make this area a highlight of Magong tourism and create a magnetic attraction, shaping Penghu into a unique image as one of the world's most beautiful bays. After the Agogo Yacht Group settled in Penghu, the Fisherman's Wharf has taken on a new look, with the painted mailboxes becoming even more lively and bustling amidst the yachts. Tourists have more options to explore Penghu, with the new yacht tourism developments complementing Penghu's natural geographical features and ocean advantages, creating a refreshing and more internationalized culture of leisure tourism in Penghu.
