Zhu Wan Crab Museum Introduction
Located next to the Daji Temple in Zhuwan Village, Xiyu Township, Penghu, occupying over a hundred ping, the museum boasts hundreds of species of shrimp and crabs, with thousands of specimens and live exhibits, making it the largest in the country. The collection of crabs in the museum is the result of years of dedication by curator Chen Hongtu, who has also utilized unique techniques developed from years of research to prepare the specimens. The diverse array of shrimp and crabs within the museum is truly breathtaking. Curator Chen Hongtu, a native of Zhuwan, Xiyu, has been engaged with crabs for over a decade, and the majority of the specimens in the collection are sourced from the waters of Penghu, along with some collected from around the world, including the largest, heaviest, most venomous, and fastest crabs, as well as those that can climb trees, have Guan Yu’s face, and have horns. Additionally, there are deep-sea shrimp that lack eyes and the largest lobsters... so many peculiar and extraordinary shrimp and crabs that it’s hard to count, making it hard to imagine such a vast collection can be seen at the Zhuwan Crab Museum.
