Zhu Wan Z seaweed reef Introduction
Zicai Reef is located on the northwest coast of Zhuan Village, featuring many unique geological formations. In addition to sea-erosion grooves and platforms, the region is characterized by a continuous and spectacular array of basalt columns, as well as north-south oriented elongated reefs beneath these columns. The reefs extend deep into the sea, and due to being constantly battered by waves, they yield abundant laver, hence the name "Zicai Reef." This area is a natural production site for laver in Zhuan. Zicai Reef is a public production site in Zhuan, and harvesting rights are publicly auctioned every September to the highest bidder. The harvesting period lasts from the bidding date in September until the end of April the following year. During this period, villagers who did not win the bid can collect laver as bait, but they are not allowed to take the laver away; the harvesting rights belong solely to the winning bidder. Wild laver grows on the reefs washed by the waves, with its breeding season occurring during the cold winter months. Its quality is heavily influenced by climatic conditions. The best growth environment for laver is on the sea-erosion platforms, which receive little sunlight and are occasionally pounded by waves. An ancient saying states, "If the waves are strong, the yield is abundant; if the waves are calm, the yield is scarce," truly reflecting the growth conditions of wild laver. Zicai Reef is a local hidden gem, and it is highly secluded. When heading towards Xiaomen Village, a fork in the road appears about 200 meters from Xiaomen Bridge. Following the winding path between pastures will lead you to Zicai Reef. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by a layer of ochre-colored quartz sandstone rich in iron, exposed by rain erosion. There is a pavilion nearby where villagers and tourists can rest. Climbing to the top of the pavilion offers a panoramic view of the stunning scenery, with a picturesque horizon where the sky meets the sea, the deep blue sky, the vast ocean, and the Zicai reef rocks in between. At the foot of the slope, various weathered and sea-erosion platforms and stepped terrain can be found, with the most striking feature being the continuous row of columnar basalt. The crashing waves create beautiful sparks of nature. In addition to being a bountiful source of laver, this location is also perfect for wave watching, sunset viewing, shore fishing, and appreciating various landforms and topographies. **[Recommended Stay Duration]** 1 hour
