Qingluo Sandbank Introduction
Qingluo Sandbar Wetland is one of the unique ecological attractions in Penghu. Located on the northwest shore of Hushan Mountain on the north side of Qingluo Village, there is a slightly hook-shaped sandy beach, which is a rare coastal geomorphological feature in Penghu. The vast wetlands of Qingluo Village are frequented by migratory waterbirds during the spring and autumn seasons for foraging. Qingluo Sandbar is the largest sandbar formation in Penghu, offering beautiful scenery and serving as a breeding ground for the conservation-listed summer visitor bird, the Little Tern. The significance of the landscape and habitat is evident. The surrounding intertidal zone is rich in resources, and during low tide, many local residents can be seen collecting shellfish here. This area is the largest mangrove protection zone in Penghu and is home to the newly recorded species in Taiwan, the Beautiful Ghost Crab, which has amazed ecology experts. It also boasts a rich variety of birds and features a dedicated birdwatching area for enthusiasts. The expansive area is one of the important habitats for birds in Penghu, and it serves as a breeding ground for the conservation-listed Little Tern. Additionally, it is one of the largest habitats and wintering sites for birds in Penghu, with more than a hundred bird species and thousands of migratory or wintering birds each year, offering abundant natural and cultural ecological resources.
