Chiayi Railway Art Village Introduction
The Chiayi Railway Art Village was originally an idle railway warehouse. Following government planning, the "Railway Art Village" project began in September 2000, transforming it into a venue for artistic creation and display, establishing surrounding imagery and style. It provides various creative spaces for artistic exchange, hoping to leverage cultural performances to integrate local characteristics and community development, thereby achieving the ideal goal of the Railway Art Village. The railway warehouse comprises twelve storage units arranged in a north-south elongated multi-compartment building, of which seven are managed by the Railway Bureau's freight service. The indoor area totals approximately 2,565 square meters, with spaces designated indoors and outdoors for creation, exhibitions, performances, and educational promotion. An artistic ambiance and landscape have been established around the railway, creating an alternative space for artistic performances. Transportation options to the Railway Art Village include: 1. From Chiayi Railway Station, take a train to Chiayi Railway Station, then board the city bus No. 7 to the back railway station (previous transfer center), getting off at the Railway Art Village station and walking about 10 minutes. 2. From Chiayi Railway Station, take a train to Chiayi Railway Station, then board city bus No. 1 (or No. 1A) towards Chiayi Veterans Hospital (or 228 National Memorial Park), getting off at the Railway Art Village station and walking about 10 minutes. 3. If taking long-distance bus to the back railway station, transfer to city bus No. 7 towards Daya Station, getting off at the Railway Art Village station and walking about 10 minutes. Walk from the railway station: After getting off at Chiayi Railway Station, it's about an 8-minute walk to the venue. High-speed rail: 1. After getting off at Chiayi High-Speed Rail Station, take BRT 7211 or 7212 to the back Chiayi Station, then board city bus No. 7 towards Daya Station, getting off at the Railway Art Village station and walking about 10 minutes. 2. After arriving at Chiayi High-Speed Rail Station, take BRT 7211 or 7212 to the back Chiayi Station, then board city bus No. 1 (or No. 1A) towards National Chiayi University, getting off at the Railway Art Village station and walking about 10 minutes. 3.
