Chiayi Railway Art Village Introduction
Chiayi Railway Art Village, originally an idle railway warehouse, began planning as an "Art Village" in September 2000, under the government's direction. It was transformed into a venue for artistic creation and exhibition, establishing surrounding imagery and style, providing various creative spaces for artistic exchanges. The aim is to lead with cultural performances, integrating local features and community development to realize the ideals of the Railway Art Village. The railway warehouse consists of twelve storage rooms arranged in a long, north-south oriented building complex with multiple compartments. Among them, seven rooms are managed by the Railway Bureau for freight services, with an indoor area of approximately 2,565 square meters. The indoor and outdoor spaces are planned for creation, exhibitions, performances, and educational promotion. An artistic ambiance is built around the railway area, providing an alternative space for artistic performances. To arrive at the Art Village from the Train Station or the Back Train Station: 1. Take a train to Chiayi Train Station, then board bus No. 7 towards the Back Train Station (the initial transfer center), alight at Railway Art Village Station, and walk about 10 minutes to reach. 2. Take a train to Chiayi Train Station, then board bus No. 1 (or No. 1A) towards Chiayi Veterans Hospital (or 228 National Memorial Park), alight at Railway Art Village Station, and walk about 10 minutes to reach. 3. Take a bus to the Back Train Station, then board bus No. 7 towards Daya Station, alight at Railway Art Village Station, and walk about 10 minutes to reach. Walking from the Train Station: After getting off at Chiayi Train Station, it's about an 8-minute walk to reach. From the High-Speed Rail: 1. Take the high-speed rail to Chiayi HSR Station, then transfer to BRT routes 7211 or 7212 to Chiayi Back Train Station, and take bus No. 7 towards Daya Station, alight at Railway Art Village Station, and walk about 10 minutes to reach. 2. Take the high-speed rail to Chiayi HSR Station, then transfer to BRT routes 7211 or 7212 to Chiayi Back Train Station, and take bus No. 1 (or No. 1A) towards National Chiayi University campus, alight at Railway Art Village Station, and walk about 10 minutes to reach. 3. Take the high-speed rail to Chiayi HSR Station, then transfer to BRT routes 7211 or 7212 to Chiayi Back Train Station, and after walking for about 8 minutes, you will arrive.
