Chiayi Railway Art Village Introduction
The Chiayi Railway Art Village was originally an idle railway warehouse. Under the planning of the city government, the planning work for the "Railway Art Village" began in September 2000, transforming it into a space for artistic creation and exhibition, while establishing surrounding imagery and aesthetics. It provides various creative spaces for artistic exchange and enjoyment, aiming to use cultural performances as a precursor, integrating local characteristics and community development to achieve the ideal goal of the Railway Art Village. The railway warehouse comprises twelve storage rooms and is a linear building group oriented north to south with multiple compartments, of which seven are managed by the Railway Administration's freight services. The total indoor area is approximately 2,565 square meters, with both indoor and outdoor spaces planned for creation, exhibitions, performances, and educational promotion. This establishment forms an artistic image and aesthetic around the railway, creating an alternative space for artistic performances. Directions to the Railway Art Village: From the train station or the rear train station: 1. Take a train to Chiayi Train Station, then take the city bus No. 7 towards the rear train station (initial transfer center) and get off at the Railway Art Village Station. It's about a 10-minute walk from there. 2. Take a train to Chiayi Train Station, then take city bus No. 1 (or No. 1A) towards Chiayi Veterans Hospital (or 228 Memorial Park) and get off at the Railway Art Village Station. It's about a 10-minute walk from there. 3. Take a coach to the rear train station, then take city bus No. 7 towards Daya Station and get off at the Railway Art Village Station. It's about a 10-minute walk from there. Walking from the train station: After getting off at Chiayi Train Station, it takes about an 8-minute walk to reach the destination. From the High-Speed Rail Station: 1. Take the High-Speed Rail to Chiayi High-Speed Rail Station, then take BRT 7211 or 7212 to the rear station of Taiwan Railways. Transfer to city bus No. 7 towards Daya Station and get off at the Railway Art Village Station. It's about a 10-minute walk from there. 2. Take the High-Speed Rail to Chiayi High-Speed Rail Station, then take BRT 7211 or 7212 to the rear station of Taiwan Railways. Transfer to city bus No. 1 (or No. 1A) towards Chiayi University campus and get off at the Railway Art Village Station. It's about a 10-minute walk from there. 3. Take the High-Speed Rail to Chiayi High-Speed Rail Station, then take BRT 7211 or 7212 to the rear station of Taiwan Railways, and after about an 8-minute walk, you will reach the destination.
