Shengming Temple Introduction
Shengming Temple primarily worships Guansheng Emperor. Initially, it was established in a private residence in the Jinshan District during the early Guangxu period. In the 11th year of Showa (1936), the statue of Guansheng Emperor was moved to Lunzai Ding in Jiufen. In the 37th year of the Republic of China (1948), the Quanzhong Hall was founded at the original site, co-worshiping Fuyou Emperor, Siming Zhenjun, Huo Luo Lingguan, and Wumu Emperor, collectively known as the Five Sheng En Masters. It was not until the 39th year of the Republic of China (1950) that the temple was established at its current location, and the following year, Quanzhong Hall was relocated to the new site. In the 65th year of the Republic of China (1976), it was renamed Shengming Temple. Due to its elevated position and the spacious platform in front of the temple, visitors can not only admire the beauty of the temple but also enjoy the natural scenery of the Ruibin Coastal area. Shengming Temple serves as the focal point for various activities in Jiufen, and every year, the Mazu procession starts and ends at Shengming Temple.
