Shengming Temple Introduction
Shengming Temple primarily worships Guansheng Dijun. It was originally established in a private residence in the Jinshan District in the early years of the Guangxu era. In 1936 (Showa 11), the statue of Guansheng Dijun was moved to Lunziteng in Jiufen. In 1948 (the 37th year of the Republic of China), the Quanzhong Hall was established on the original site, simultaneously worshipping Fuyou Dijun, Siming Zhenjun, Huo Luo Lingguan, and Wumu Dijun, collectively known as the Five Sheng En Zhu Gong. It wasn't until 1950 (the 39th year of the Republic of China) that the temple was built at its current location, with Quanzhong Hall relocated to the new site the following year. In 1976 (the 65th year of the Republic of China), it was renamed Shengming Temple. Due to its high elevation, the open area in front of the temple is very spacious, allowing visitors not only to appreciate the beauty of the temple but also to enjoy the natural scenery of the Ruibin coastal area. Shengming Temple serves as the center for various activities in Jiufen, and every year, the celebration of Mazu begins and ends at Shengming Temple.
