Shengming Temple Introduction
Shengming Temple primarily worships Guansheng Dijun. It was originally established in a private residence in the Jinshan District during the early Guangxu years. In 1936 (the 11th year of the Showa era), the statue of Guansheng Dijun was relocated to the Lunzai Hill in Jiufen. In 1948 (the 37th year of the Republic of China), the Quanzhong Hall was established at the original site, concurrently worshiping Fuyou Dijun, Siming Zhenjun, Huo Luo Lingguan, and Wumu Dijun, collectively known as the Five Beneficial Lords. It wasn't until 1950 (the 39th year of the Republic of China) that the temple was built at its current location, and the next year, Quanzhong Hall was moved to the new site. In 1976 (the 65th year of the Republic of China), it was renamed Shengming Temple. Due to the temple's elevated location and the spacious platform in front of it, visitors can enjoy not only the beautiful architecture of the temple but also the natural scenery of the Ruifang coastal area. Shengming Temple serves as the center of various activities in Jiufen, and every year, the Mazu procession begins and ends at this temple.
