Shengming Temple Introduction
Sheng Ming Temple primarily worships Guan Sheng Dijun. Initially, in the early years of the Guangxu Emperor, it was established in a private residence in the Jinshan District. In the 11th year of the Showa era (1936), the statue of Guan Sheng Dijun was moved to Lunzai Peak in Jiufen. In the 37th year of the Republic of China (1948), Quanzhong Hall was established at the original site, concurrently worshiping Fu You Dijun, Si Ming Zhenjun, Huo Luo Ling Guan, and Wu Mu Dijun, collectively referred to as the Five Sheng En Zhu Gong. It wasn't until the 39th year of the Republic of China (1950) that the temple was built at its current location, and the following year, Quanzhong Hall was relocated to the new site. In the 65th year of the Republic of China (1976), it was renamed Sheng Ming Temple. Due to its high elevation and the spacious platform in front of the temple, visitors can enjoy not only the beauty of the temple but also take in the natural scenery of the Ruibin coastal area. Sheng Ming Temple is the center of various activities in Jiufen, and every year, the pilgrimage to Ma Zu starts and ends at Sheng Ming Temple.
