Shengming Temple Introduction
Shengming Temple primarily worships Guansheng Emperor. Initially established in the early years of the Guangxu era in a private residence in the Jinshan District, the statue of Guansheng Emperor was moved to Lunzaiting in Jiufen in 1936 (Showa 11). In 1948 (the 37th year of the Republic of China), the Quanzhong Hall was established on the original site, worshiping not only Guansheng Emperor but also Fuyou Emperor, Si Ming Zhenjun, Huo Luo Ling Guan, and Wu Mu Emperor, collectively known as the Five Shengtong Benefactors. It wasn't until 1950 (the 39th year of the Republic of China) that the temple was built at the current site, with the Quanzhong Hall relocated to the new site the following year. In 1976 (the 65th year of the Republic of China), it was renamed Shengming Temple. Due to its elevated location and the spacious platform in front of the temple, visitors can not only appreciate the beauty of the temple but also enjoy the natural scenery of the Ruibin coastal area. Shengming Temple serves as the center for various Jiufen activities, and each year, the Mazu pilgrimage begins and ends at Shengming Temple.
