Shen'ao Fishing Harbor Introduction
Shen'ao Fishing Port, located in Ruifang District and formerly known as "Fan'ao," is situated at the tip of Shen'ao Cape. The port area is spacious and surrounded by numerous rocky coasts, making it an excellent spot for rock fishing. Renowned for its recreational sea fishing opportunities, it is the fishing port with the highest number of fishing boats in Taiwan. Whether heading towards the resource-rich waters of Keelung Islet or the Northern Three Islands (Hua Bin Islet, Pengjia Islet, and Mianhua Islet), experienced boat operators can be found at Shen'ao Fishing Port. The unique terrain and location of Shen'ao Fishing Port make it a sanctuary for anglers, with catches primarily consisting of small squid, octopuses, and whitebait. Several popular seafood restaurants have opened along the port, attracting many food enthusiasts eager to indulge in fresh seafood. Chartering a boat allows visitors to enjoy the fun and challenge of sea fishing while appreciating the renowned landscapes and towns of the Northeast Coast, such as Elephant Trunk Rock, Bitou Cape Battleship Rock, and Shuinandong. In recent years, it has also become a hotspot for water activities like stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). Adjacent to Shen'ao Fishing Port, the Sea and Sky Trail features a 310-meter scenic boardwalk with a 270-degree panoramic view of the ocean. Visitors can gaze at the beautiful hillside town of Jiufen and take photos with adorable squid-themed installations. The seamless sky and sea have become a hidden gem in Shen'ao. At night, the boardwalk transforms into a stunning light sculpture, with rich colors creating waves of light interwoven with fishing lights, complementing the Golden Mountain Town. The starlit scene grows increasingly romantic as the night deepens, allowing visitors to forget the city's hustle and bustle.
