Guanyin Pavilion Introduction
Situated on the mountaintop behind Pinglin Junior High School, this area was originally the site of a shrine during the Japanese occupation and was later transformed into the Guanyin Pavilion. There is a trail that leads to the pavilion, which stands 40 feet high. In the center of a circular landscaped square measuring 21 meters in diameter is a Guanyin statue that is approximately 11 meters tall, seated on a lotus pedestal and facing south towards the layered mountains, symbolizing the deep roots of the local community. It is not only a landmark of Pinglin but also the tallest bronze Guanyin statue in northern Taiwan. Following the trail down from the Guanyin Pavilion, it faces the "Siyuan Pavilion," in alignment with the Mazu of Tea Village, watching over the tea-growing community. Since visitors are already here, it’s a great opportunity to take a walk and exercise, and from this spot, you can also enjoy a fantastic view of the North-Yilan Highway and the Xueshan Tunnel!
