Guanyin Pavilion Introduction
Located on the mountain behind Pinglin Junior High School, this site was originally the location of a shrine during the Japanese occupation and was later converted into Guanyin Pavilion. There is a trail leading to it; the Guanyin Pavilion stands 40 feet high, situated in a circular landscape square with a diameter of 21 meters. The statue of Guanyin is placed in the center of the square, with the lotus pedestal reaching a height of about 11 meters, facing southward over the layers of mountains, symbolizing the enduring legacy of the people's source of livelihood. It is not only a landmark of Pinglin but also the tallest bronze Guanyin statue in northern Taiwan. Following the trail up and down from the Guanyin Pavilion, it faces the "Siyuan Pavilion" and looks out towards the Mama Temple in the tea region, providing protection for the local residents. Since visitors have come this far, it's a great idea to take a little extra walk for some exercise, and from here, one can also see the North-Yi Highway and the Xueshan Tunnel, offering stunning views!
