Guanyin Pavilion Introduction
Located on the top of a mountain behind Pinglin Junior High School, this place was originally the site of a shrine during the Japanese colonial period and was later transformed into the Guanyin Pavilion. There is a trail leading up to it, and the Guanyin Pavilion stands 40 feet tall on a circular plaza with a diameter of 21 meters, where the statue of Guanyin is situated in the center of the plaza. The statue, including the lotus pedestal, is about 11 meters tall and faces southward towards the rolling mountains, symbolizing the long-lasting prosperity of the local people. It is not only a landmark in Pinglin but also the tallest bronze Guanyin statue in northern Taiwan. Following the trail down from the Guanyin Pavilion, it faces the "Siyuan Pavilion" and watches over the local tea-growing community. Since visitors have come to this place, they might as well take some time to exercise and enjoy the view, which includes the North Yi Highway and the Xueshan Tunnel!
