Guanyintai Introduction
Located at the top of a mountain behind Pinglin Junior High School, this site was originally the location of a shrine during the Japanese colonial period and was later transformed into Guanyin Pavilion. There is a trail leading up to it, and the Guanyin Pavilion stands 40 feet tall, situated within a circular landscape plaza with a diameter of 21 meters. The Guanyin statue, rising approximately 11 meters, is placed in the center of the plaza, facing south towards the layers of mountains, symbolizing the enduring legacy of the people. It is not only a landmark in Pinglin but also the tallest bronze Guanyin statue in northern Taiwan. Descending and ascending the mountain via the trail will reveal the Guanyin Pavilion facing "Siyuan Pavilion," in alignment with the Mazu in the tea region, providing protection to the local tea farmers. As visitors have made the journey here, it's a great opportunity for some exercise, and from this vantage point, one can enjoy a spectacular view of the North Yi Highway and the Xueshan Tunnel!
